One, supposed ignorance is no defense.

Two, if you're buying a car, you need an etest to put plates on the car after you transfer ownership. Only an idiot would buy a car that can't pass an etest or safety certification. Such a car is essentially worthless and liable to be instantly taken off the road.

Mine is e-test exempt. :smokin:

they won't take ur car off the rd just because u don't have a cat, your car has to be unsafe for them to tow it.

Harmfull emissions is considered "unsafe".

Gotta love that eh? Only problem, it's still required to have the factory emissions equipment hooked up.

I dunno, I saw the MTO hit a Mustang with a $360 ticket for a PCV vavle...

They did, later that night tow a Honda away...

Adam, I've seen countless people get tickets for no cats but not once did they get an "unsafe vehicle" charge, unless the exhaust did not exit at the rear of the car.

I've seen cars with bald tires ticketed and taken off the road. I've also seen cars with unsafe tires ticketed and allowed to continue.

You don't get an "unsafe" vehicle charge for a missing cat. You get charged under environmental protection laws. The car can still have its plates taken off at that point, officer's discretion.

The MTO people I've seen are retarded... they were inspecting my buddies Rabbit which clearly had an air filter, also known as an open PCV system, bolted to the front of the block. It was a big shiney K&N Filter too. The Officer said "Uh we don't know what this is so we can't ticket you..."

It's nice to know the guys handing out these $300+ tickets know what they're talking about. Come on, it doesn't take an automotive engineer to figure out that a chrome air filter clamped to the side of an engine block probably wasn't put there by VW 25 years ago when the car was made...

:lol_hitti You gotta love cops who can't tell a 25 year old motor, from a 2 year old motor.
