If this happens, I will be packing my bags and heading back to the US.

I have no problem with people wanting to immigrate to Canada.

What I do have a problem with - is when they get here - they want laws to change to make their life easier.

For instance - in this article - they wanted their parents to be allowed to stay in Canada because they couldn't find a babysitter....WTF?!?!? A real Estate Agwent making 3% commision PLUS salary - cannot afford a baby sitter...BS. I know single mothers working in Call Centre's for $10/hr, who can afford day care on top of other living expenses.

The other - is the Turbanator fella - who feels he shouldn't have to wear a helmet to ride his motorcycle, because his religion doesnt accept covering his turban. Seriously now.....WTF......"its a violation of human rights" he says.....blow me buddy! The law is there for your own personal safety, and those around you. If you were riding your bike without your helmet and I hit you - seeing your head explode on the pavement, will seriously do me some mental anguish

My parents came to Canada back in the 70's - and yes, they had to cram into a small apartment, had the worst FOB accent, and shopped at K-Mart for pretty much everything. But they didnt ask the media to do a story on helping bring my grandparents over.....or ask that everyone be nice to the new Filipino family on the block...they were grateful for being allowed to raise their family in this country - and kept their mouth shut about the differences in political and social environments.

Thats just it, come to this country because it allows you to have safeheaven, but not to come here and all of a sudden feel you can change around. Maybe thats the reason your own country doesnt want you there in the first place so they are kicking you out .

He doesnt have a salary. Real Estate agents work off only comission, which still doesnt explain why he cant get a baby sitter. Even if his mom babysits the kids, his pops can work.

okay - no salary - straight commisision only

3% on a MINIMUM $200,000 home is $6,000 - if he sells one house a month for a year - he still exceeds the average family income of 2 working parents (which is a total combined income of $60,000) living in the GTA. but HE cant afford a sitter.

Besides - if they want to subsidize their income - the wife can take on nanny position for another child, earning her at least an additional $600/month

Its getting ridiculous in Brampton. Immigration should be mixed between the continents and not have a majority like east asian just coming in. At times when i drive thru brampton i feel like im in India. So much for Canada beign a mosaic of diffrent cultures and peoples.

In the future USA will be litlle Mexico and Canada will be litlle India;)

I dont even know what to say.

Ron...seriously dude...how many times must we go through the corolla drivin, curry smellin, non-helmet wearing, ethnic enclave that is Brampton? It obvious it would come to this point if the gov't doesn't impose restrictions and follow up on them.

"It's hard to be away from home. We had no friend, no relative here," said Gurpreet Kalra, 37, a Brampton real estate agent who arrived from India in 1995.

http://somecallmeduh.files.wordpress...ainobvious.jpg

"When our child was born, my wife and I had to hire a babysitter so she could go to work ... it costs a lot of money."

More of captain obvious....as though Canadians don't face the same problem. Its a statistic that a single mother working at the average pay in Toronto cannot mathematically afford babysitting...go figure.

RonBurgundy 03-18-2008 10:25 PM

"no friend , no relative" ...... are you joking me? They have more friends / relatives in brampton, than I have made in the entire north america in my 25 years on this earth.

I never really understood why this country WANTS soo many newcommers (in the hundreds of thousands a year). Why? Because we need more ppl here so theres more spending, so we can compete with another country like the USA, that doesnt compute with me. McGuinty in 2005 signed a document he came up with called the ROOM TO GROW ACT where his administration is forcing municipalities in the golden horseshoe area to densify its population, in some cases by about 40%. This area already has a population of just over 8million, immagine traffic/pollution when it reaches 11.7million ppl. Why?

More ppl in a small area will drive up property values making it even harder for ppl to own a home, resources will go up in price due to greater demand, etc.... a plan for disaster

On the other hand, maybe I should take thier lead and try and bring over ALL of my relatives from Europe (oh and all my friends from around the world), start a new business, hire them all, pay them under the table while they collect wellie and get free medical paid for by you.

more newcommers mean more ppl paying taxes to go to the ppl that want more newcommers

I hope ppl reading this don't think we being racist ...... just tired of ppl abusing the system

Kuztom Freak 03-19-2008 03:47 PM

I dont really care who comes here from where, just slow it da fukk down man, wayy down. We should concentrate on mending the system first, [helping out Canadians so we dont have starving kids, homeless ppl, sick ppl, uneducated ppl, etc...]. Then we can start inviting ppl to come over, preferably those who can benifit this country - like doctors, engineers, scientists and not babysitters. Come here and make a real effort - I had 1 family member that came here yrs ago and basically refused to learn English, well fukk her, I spoke mainly English to her - she was here on a 3 month visa. Im critical of everyone regardless..

I understand ppl come here cuz their "home" country is shite, why dont they try and fix their country so it aint so shite? Prolly cuz they dont care, and if they dont care bout their home country, how will they treat their new country.

Yup and unfortunately either:

1) its the same people trying to abuse the system or;

2) the media is just glorifying the cases involving certain individuals because it will get more attention....when in fact its creating a somewhat negative reaction.

So maybe its not these individuals abusing the system, but the media abusing these individuals.

Ok thats my drunken thought for the night. Damn I love Rickard's white.

i think they should concetrate more on the people that were born here. Instead, they let people into the country, then they go on welfare, milking the system, living 30 people in a house and complain that our society isn't fair to them.
Not fair??!?!?!?
Then why did you come to our country in the first place?
Oh, thats right, b/c your country sucked, and you wanted a better place to bring up your family, so they could have a better future.
Well, i think, if people want to move to canada, they should have to do a MANDATORY 2 year service in the army/navy/military/whatever, and fight overseas for our country. That will prove that they REALLY want to be here. Then once given their citizenship, there should be a limit on how many people they can bring over and have living with them.
I agree with whoever said that the more people that live in our country, the higher the prices will be for stuff (homes, food, gas, etc etc), b/c thats just simple supply and demand.
Well, we supply the good country to live in, so we should demand they follow our rules and AT LEAST learn to speak our damn language.

I see two outcomes here
1) we would definitely have the worlds shittiest army
2) there would be more cases of treason than there is welfare
