Canadian Forces
..
well one for the experience, and since i could remember i always wanted to but dont know why i didnt...and to help the afghany and iraqi ppl...pretty much to serve my country and do something great like that
Come from a family of military and police.
But, what stopped me from going into the forces was basically my grandparents who lived through the 2nd world war in Germany.
If i hadn't been so close to them i likely would have just joined.
But other than that. I always wanted to be infantry, but alas, the closest i get is Call Of Duty 4. LOL
Have to respect people in the military, very honorable career choice.

When I was 15 I was a cadet.
Other than that I never got close to being part of any army.
I had a bit of a problem with authority when I was younger. And now, I just have no desire whatsoever to be part of the military, especially a military that gets orderd to stick it's nose where it doesn't belong for the most part.
No thanks, not this guy, although my experince in the cadets was pretty cool, how many people get to run around playing war games with real C8's firing blanks?
Got to see tanks and fire the C9 as well....good times, but never again.

I can't say I had any regrets in Cadets, I know it's a bit different than Army but it's similar. The marching and formations and stuff like that sucks though, I can't count how many times I got in for scratching myself while standing at attention, but I'm an itchy kind of guy and couldn't just ignore it.
Again, it's different in regular Army but in Cadets you could volunteer to go over seas but I doubt highly that would apply to regular Army.

Well, the GFs nephew is getting deployed to Iraq on the 22nd.
I mean, this is the real deal. People over there will want to kill him
I had a friend who went through basic and he was well fit and already well disciplined by his military father, he loved it. But after basic they had no placement for him, so the navy offered him a spot. However, he would have to do their basic training.
He opted not too and to this day is a civilian making good money.
