youre simply disgruntled, because in the case of your cavalier, your blue book may say one thing, but actual sales reflect another. your domestic economy wreck suffers from poor resale for more reasons than just this idea that the public perception of imports is better. GM itself has killed resale value on its vehicles, one example of this is the incentive pricing from the last few years. by offering DEEP discounts from all the employee pricing and other mark downs, new cars were seeing price drops of 2000-6000+! what do you think that does to previous years of used cars on the market, that now also have to slip in price to maintain their position in the market.
also consider the horrendous interior quality, overall fit and finish, and general reliability, and you can clearly see why cars like the cavalier plummet in value the moment it leaves the lot anyways.
perhaps from a lower middle class standpoint, the cavalier can be considered a decent car, clearly you think it illicits a price tag of 6k... but to most people, the cavalier is a piece of . for years it was one of the cheapest cars you could buy new from the dealership.
you seem to be at conflict with yourself. you compare similar year/style civics to your cavalier, and wonder why they go for double what your car is worth. maybe you should accept reality, and welcome the fact it is due to the civic ultimately being a BETTER car, therefore, it will always sell for more.

At least you dont have to put cavaliers into winter storage every year to avoid your civic being worthless because its completely rotten underneath. People can say this and that about it be worth 15k bottom line being is its only worth what somone is willing to pay for it.

The original hood latch is not attached to the hood. Even if it was still there, its not a good idea with such a light hood, it flexes to much at highway speeds.
