I don't know about that. Tow truck drivers are mean people who thrive on other people's misfortune, garbage men only need to know a road map and how to lift for their job, etc... but repairing a car is sometimes very difficult and takes a lot of skill to diagnose some problems. Replacing parts is one thing, figuring out why a 2006 Mercedes Benz SLR Coupe has an occasional misfire is another thing (just an example)...

the only co-op you'll get is at a dealership sweeping the floors. i for one wouldn't hire a 16yr to start ripping apart engines. don't expect to get there the first day and get mad when they wont let you install the turbo or change the header.
