Computer help needed
It burns 8.5 gigs instead of 4.7... Exactly what it sounds like... 4.7 is just one layer, so your essentially burning another layer right on top of it. The disks are like $5 a piece, where as you can get a pack of 25 R (single layer) disks for like 20-30 bucks

As for internal or external, I would say go with internal, theyll be cheaper, and hey, takes up no space on your shelf.

none, typically the cheap discs have a high failure rate (as do sony brand for some reason) DL discs have 2 layers of recordable space doubling the capacity of the disc (only a dvd thing nice if burning videos) I use maxell or k hypermedia, and have had only a couple bad discs. My reps give me a rating of discs that shows failures per 100 and sony fairs the worst (about 20% fail)
Don't know if you baught a new burner or still trying to fix the old (I just skipped to respond).
Anyways, try turning down the burn speed and see if that helps. (IE if your burn speed is 32x or something trying turning it down to 8x or 4x and see if that works)

And yes, compared to 65$ + shipping, I would much rather get one off newegg, or from best buy. I got my burner 2 years ago for $50 and have never had a problem with it. Ill save myself the $25+.
