Early last week my neighbour confronted a man in my backyard. They came out of their house cause their dog wanted to get out real bad . So the dog goes straight to the fence an starts freakin out. Neighbour see s a guy walkin around in my yard , which wasnt fenced or gaited at the time . 6 foot high wood fence and gates being built right now. They ask him what hes doing , he says , Oh I guess I really shouldnt be here. They ask him if he,s invited . He basically says no while still looking around a model a ford project I have back there. They tell him they are gonna phone the cops . He says Ok , a few minutes later he leaves my yard and goes onto the property of the second house further down the street, also unfenced.
Neighbour phones the cops , waited by their frt window over twenty minutes . No cops came .
I let that bother me for a few days , then decided to phone and ask why a cop wasnt sent over . Got the usual run around that you would expect. I figured aw w it I,ll just hang up . Instead I say theres aguy in my yard now . Do you want me to phone you and tell you where the body is or do you wanna try an find it yourselves an hang up.
Cop car comes flying in my lane way 4 mins and 14 secs later . I know the time cause when he pulled in I quick deleted call history on my cell.
Cop was all peaked like he was barney fife ing a homocide.
Got the big lecture on charges for public mischeif ( sp ) But he had nothing to say about the fact that two pitbulls were fighting in somebodies laneway , 2 cruisers an 3 cops show up . 1 Dog shot , 1 chased off into bush/ravine area. But a call about man tresspassing on property , checking stuff out while a woman , shiftworker is sleeping in the house alone isnt even worth a ing driveby.
The cop basically said to me that I didnt deserve protection because of who I am . I,m like wtf are you talking about . You know organised crime . What ??. We know who you hang around with , where you go . I,m like wtf are you meaning . Apparantly cause I know / hang around with known street racers , even tho I,ve never been busted for illegal emmissions or racing , or been caught at street races ( luckily). Apparantly I,m some sort of criminal .
What a joke this guy was. I,ve allready given his card to my lawyer in case of future probs with this guy.I,ll probably have to declare that on my passport . Known Criminal /Street racer at large.
Dont get to freaked out if there is poor spelling or what not , its late an I was just venting ..77.

Then the cops will charge you along with the traspasser sueing you for bodily harm and wat not.. and will be there quick cause ambulance is needed.

truly pathetic if you ask me how the police only respond AFTER a crime is committed. I guess they should change their ing slogan from "To serve and Protect" to "When you're Dead we'll eventually get there".

It sickens me to read a story like this and even more so when they gave you attitude for being a concerned citizen.

And they wonder why they're so hated.

Sounds like you (77) got the 26-year-old-just-got-out-of-police-foundations- into-the-force-cop.

This reminds me of a story that occurred here a few weeks ago. I know a few bouncers and they were working at a club the one night. Anyhow, big fight breaks loose and there are tons of people brawling out into the streets. Cops show up (you'll love this) and when my buddy throws one of the punk kids at the cop to detain the kid, the cop stands there and lets the kid run away then proceeds to pepper spray the bouncers. There was an article the next day in the Spec about how cops broke up "gang" violence in the streets of Hamilton at a nightclub. One of the bouncers saw this, wrote into the spec about how it wasn't "gang violence" but just disturbers, and then basically said how the police force has no idea wtf to do in these situations. The next day the Spectator published it.

Your story reminded me of this only because of how ridiculous it sounds(the situation I mean). Now I was told this but I never saw the article so some of it may be hear-say.

My house alarm was set off by my grandparents, and it's one of those ones that's linked to the cops. To make a long story short, they showed up 45 minutes after the alarm went off. So by that time, if someone had actually broken into the house, they'd be in Cambridge with all our by the time the cops got there.

I didn't get a chance to talk to the cop, but if I did I was going to ask him if he would have been here faster if there were kids hanging out on my street drinking coffee and sitting beside their modified cars.
