That seems completely fair. It's hard to go 15 over without noticing it. Maybe I'm a wuss but I don't street race or really speed at all. On the interstate I normally go about 70 so I know I won't get a ticket as there's always people passing me. I guess that's why I've never recieved a ticket in my life.

I go 20 over on the interstate here in Minneapolis everytime im on it. 55mph is just way too slow and hardly anyone actully goes that speed. Most people are like me and go 65-75.

The only reason im pissed off because of my ticket, is because I got one for speeding while passing someone going ridiculously under the speed limit. I think its smarter to get around them as fast as possible... but whatever.

X2, I get made fun of all the time for having a nice car and driving like grandma, lol. But then I ask what they pay for insurance, and ask them if there parents let them go do whatever without a curfew, of course not, I just see it as another way to show that im trustable to not go be an ***, get waisted, and wrap my car around a tree.

20 over is quite a bit and should be a given that your going to get a ticket. I'm lost as to why you thought it was a good idea to go out and peg your bike at 150 after getting a ticket. Don't drive so damn stupid or you'll end up being a donor someday.

I agree, If I ever seen that happen while i was workin Id put the hammer down on them. Even though I give out tickets for 5 mph because the post im stationed at is strict with it. Some give out for 2 over. But I barley ever work patrol because its boring and they hired a lot of GSA civilians to work it. Gotta love being Military Police.

Unsafe lane change is a lot less points and typically doesn't affect your insurance though...

It should! An unsafe lane change will contribute to accidents occurring far more than speeding will.

I beg to differ, but speeding is far more of an punishable offense since everyone knows the law. And There are speed limit signs posted everywhere. An unsafe lane change could be as simple as not seeing somone in your blind spot and cutting them off without really planning on it. It could happen to anyone, but speeding is another story there is no excuse not matter what the situation.

Speed does not cause accidents. Differential in speed, however, can. If you haven't noticed, oftentimes the 'flow' of traffic and the posted speed limit do not coincide. Usually traffic flow on freeways and things exceeds this limit. So one guy going the speed limit or slower can cause an accident. However, we don't seem to ticket these people who can't maintain speed with the flow of traffic and go below the speed limit.

Let's look at it this way, you're in your lane, I'm in mine, I go past you at 75 MPH, you're doing 55 MPH. Nothing changed, I just passed you, and we're both still safe.

You're in your lane doing 55 MPH and I'm doing 65 MPH, and you make an unsafe lane change into my lane as I'm coming up along side you... do I really need to continue? An unsafe lane change presents a far greater threat than me going faster than you.

Yeah thats one bad scenario for that circumstance. I could name a ton where speeding can cause accidents also. They both have positives and negatives, both can lead to tickets, both can cause accidents.
