Wll my dad wants to get our family a new digital camera for christmas but he wants me to go with to pick one out. We will prolly go to Circuit City. He is looking to spend around 200-300 dollars. Any one got any suggestions or good info?thanks

canon, pansonic with the leica lens, fuji, konica/minolta, nikkon are all very good. Kodak doesn't build theirs it's some chinese company, sony can't decide on a format, plus teh picture quality is not that great for the money charged. Don't fall into the megapixel trap unless you plan on doing a poster 3 megapixels will give as good a picture as teh huge ones, also forget digital zoom it's marketing garbage I have mine shut off and never miss it

More optical zoom, the better the zoom.

Its a matter of personal preference.

I used to sell them (still kinda do since I still have the company stuff) had to go to a training class on them and sony came out and said they had probably the worst design

yeah especially their SLR, that thing is garbage, horrible zoom, you can't change lenses, piece of junk if you ask me.

thats the camera we ended up getting. It seems pretty nice and was a pretty good deal, came with a bunch of other crap too as well as batteries and a charger. hoepfully i'll be able to take soem cool movies.
