toronto and hamilton are both huge smog citys. theres too much industrial happening there and really, what are you gonna do about it. that smog is caused by producing things people want. not neccessarily need but just want. we all want things and in this day and age we get what we want for the most part. fact is were so dependant on these things that we cant go without them.
if you pulled transport trucks off the road youd cut down on pollution in a huge way. but wait, we cant, because everything is trucked somewhere. comes in on a train, leaves on a truck, everything thats delivered in large quantities is brought in on trucks that pollute. but theyre needed.
as for the gas shortage thing, were at no shortage for oil. canada has its own supply thatll last us more than a lifetime. the oil is going up in price because people are getting greedy, the americans keep starting wars with countrys they should just leave alone and really, 40 or so cents per liter is straight taxes. remember in the late 90's when gas jumped up from sitting around 40 cents a liter, turns out the gov used that money to pay off some debt and now its paid for an oh look, its just income. they dont care because they dont pay for their own fuel so who cares if they make promises to drop the cost and then not follow through. come to theink of it, didnt the *********** in charge now promise us a drop in the price of fuel when the elections were happening, and now were hearing rumours of it hitting 150 by summer?
if the gov wants to blame someone they should go after those public transit dicks who strike all the time. i bet you more people would take the bus if more were available and they didnt get crammed up and if they ran on a regular basis. i also hear the go train operators strike whenever its convenient aswell, i bet more peopel would take the go trains if they were more reliable. lots more people are car pooling these days.
oh well, what are you gonna do. by yoursel you wont hange anything, enjoy it while you can, i knopw i personally really dont give a . me alone changing wont do anything. you need everyones participation and that will never happen

but, if 2 people on your block thought the same way and started to save energy by turning down the a/c and heat... the one to benefit is just you... you save a bit every month and that little bit can be quite a large number later on...
yeah, i echo that TTC comment btw... i just can't stand those guys... they aint doin that great a job, problem though is only thanks to the fact our stupid government neglected the subways and mass transit during the 70s (i have looked into the subject cuze i was gonna write a thesis about changing the experience in subways, but i didn't) long story short, its a catch up they are playing... a back-log of over 20 years of repairs, extensions... of course our city's public transit cannot handle that when our subways and busses are designed for the population of the 1980s
i do my part... if others don't do it then its their problem... its the little things in life that makes the difference...
you think one day you dropped a penny, you think 'bah, i can make that in 2 seconds' but if you keep counting them if everyone drops a penny every year... how much u think that is?
i do my part... i can see your perspective though,

Rep Power: 733 hahah yeah i know, that's why i think it was useless. cuz as soon as the lights go out, well it's like going to the cottage.... light that sucker up and throw some tires on it for those Global warming folks outthere.
I was also just curious. What happens to the batteries in those "environmentaly friendly" cars after they expire and start leaking battery juice all over the place? how do we dispose of them safely? (i'm actually serious, i want to know)

Rep Power: 733 i know what your saying. chances are in the near future everyone is gonna start using bio diesel and hybrid cars that recharge as you drive. problem is not everyone can afford one of these and that itll be 50 years before everyone would have one if they stopped producing gas cars now. but then itll **** off all the guy with the collector cars who wont be able to drive them in 50 years. see what im saying. theres no happy medium here. the best alternative is hydrogen. but good luck to that, lol

Rep Power: 733 its one of those sensitive subjects... i do kinda agree with you that... so what if you are the one saving the world... if the 9 other people on your block blasts their a/c all summer long while you roast... it isn't doin any favors is it?

maybe the gov should give a pay cut to those overpaid lazy bitches and invest that money into the environment or into something tht can better society.
what about cigarettes? i doubt that all that smoke, the crap in there, is any good for the environment
