emission experts?
so one of my friends's car failed emission, she drives a 91 Teg w/auto, the NOppm reading was 500 something to pass, but she had 900 or so, apparently the mech said its cat and yali yada, I told her don't listen to the dirt bag.
now, only the NOppm reading failed, what cause the NO reading so high? and there's a repair limit of $450, does that mean the minimum required repair costs $450?

there is an ethical issue here indeed
and I too am concerned about the earth even though , my fast car will never pass emissions . ( I actually took TTC and Go this summer , and ended that experience yelling out loud that canadian common transit SUCKS ELEPHANT @#% )
I don't think people who fake e-tests are the problem here thogh . I'd blame more , countries that don't aproove of the Kyoto protocoll , also I'd be more concerned about certain typical families with 20 kids that have 800 cousins , and when they all grow old they all buy 30 year old corolas and do delivery with them .
It's sad , but realistically I don't think saving the earth lies in changing our habits ( but yes , our breeding habits should change , at least for SOME nations ) , I think the only thing that would save the earth is technology and a few brilliant brains .
Hopefully they will emerge sooner rather than later , and they'll choose the betterment of humanity over beeing a tow truck driver a car dealer a cop or a manager at KFC for that matter . . .

Get a second opinion. If it is a cat it probably wont cost that much to get a cheap one put on. I had the one on my grand prix replaced for $150 bucks. Not sure if that was a good price but it had to be done for me to pass emmissions. I went to this place in scarbourough called selmon's custom exhaust, he did it in an hour.

I heard that running the car for a while before the test helps as well. Not sure if thats true but i dont think it would hurt.

Sounds more like an EGR related issue than a cat.
Make sure you DRIVE THE **** out of the cat before you take it for an etest, it gets the cat as hot as possible so it cleans as well as possible.
