Engine Rebuild

Never rebuilt and engine before but really handy, found a good deal on a better motor for the car I want.

I'm saving up this summer to buy a Mazda Miata in the fall (not planning to drive it in winter) just sorta fix it up and such.

Anyways the only Miata's that are in my price range are the 1990 Miata's but they only have the 1.6L engine, I found a good deal I think on a 1.8L Tranny and Motor for $690.00 that amount of money I should have by the end of the week.

I was wondering how hard it would to rebuild an engine as it has been something I've really wanted to do. Anyways I was thinking about getting this and then working on it all Summer because that's exactly what I have all summer. I would plan to do a complete rebuild probably putting in performance parts. Then in the winter I could get myself a Miata swap in my rebuilt 1.8 and either keep 1.6 and rebuild it or sell it off.

My question is is it worth it or am I gonna be pouring way to much money into performance engine internals I won't have enough money for the actual car by the time I'm done. Mind you I could make a deal with my dad and have him match me dollar for dollar and make it a father son project.

Oh yea I'm 17, even if I just did a engine rebuild is it worth it. Knowing I'll have a nice clean engine more powerful too with better turbo options when I get the car in the fall.

Anyone got any advice?
