After laying a beating on someones car, what are some excuses you hear...?

I've been beat a couple of times and simply say, good job, you have a fast car...

here a few excuses I've collected

i missed a gear,
my clutch is bad
I have sears tires but if I could hook up I would have dropped 1/2 sec in the 1/4 mile (after not ever chirping them...lol)
"I havent changed my intake filter in a while so it slowing me down a lot"
"i still havent installed my spoiler"
i had a full tank of gas
My cat is clogged
My tires are too old/too new
If my fat friend wasn't it in the car...
My posi is broken
The bottle wasn't warm enough/ran out
Intake/wastegate is leaking boost
supercharger belt is slipping
"You where spraying"
"I have a faster car at home"
"wait til I get my turbo"
"no wonder, you have a turbo!"
I've also heard "I need an intercooler" on an N/A car.
If my car was recently tuned, I'd had beat your ***...
" try it without the nos"
"My computer has a virus"
"i thought my ***** was the shortshift"
"i've only got 3 screws on my APC wing"
"The FAA has me undersurveillance for taxiing less than 15 mph with my wing on"
"I havent bought a power band yet"
"I Wasn't even sprayin"
"I'm driving a ricer. I am not worthy. I apologize for challenging your pure American Muscle"
"yeah I got my turbo mounted under my engine but the belt isn't hooked up"

"wait till i get my headers, k-pro, turbo kit, intercooler, bigger injectors, better tires, lighter wheels, oil changed, new spark plugs, msd spark plug wires, a cleaner air filter, better brakes, a new transmission, a short throw shifter, a new clutch, a lighter flywheel, new axles, a limited slip, new seats, 5-point harnesses, full exhaust WITH NO CATS, bigger throttle body, new header bolts, better traction, BIGGER TACH, a/f ratio guage, tranny temp guage and A NEW GIRL FRIEND-

THEN I WILL BEAT YOU FOR SURE!!!!!"

My shift **** flew off once when slamming into second gear, but I still won.

That reminds me of a funny storey

the trans brake we use applys when you put the tranny in first
the first time a buick guy used his he had a firm grip on the shifter and to launch the car you put it from first to drive.

well he went to drive, leaving at over 10lbs of boost the car planted him in the seat and while he was still gripping the shifter he pulled it back into first
locking the transbrake, the car nose dived and he went back to drive (it has a special gate that makes the shifter hit drive unless the button is pushed...)

so when the car hit drive again he was able to gain control again...

I bet it was quite a ride

There was a vid kicking around of a guy in a Civic going from second to first, and bouncing it off 11,000 rpm. It still ran mid 12 IIRC. Maybe someone's got the vid, or a link to it.
Best excuse I've heard, and well seen, is "I nailed a Raccoon at 100 mph, and broke my rear slapper bar". That was disgusting. I can still picture it, and that was over 10 years ago.

When I race the cougar 1-2 shift was always fun. The cd player wasn't secure enough so sometimes it would fly out and literaly cut my knuckles up.

Funny thing after that at the track I would just bring bungie cord and wrap it around the console to keep it in place..LOL


If my nitrous bottle ran dry I'd use that was an excuse... But then Again.. You need 2 BOTTLES!!!!111

Why race a car thats known to be fast on your low boost setting
And who really pays to get a car tuned for 20psi and only runs 10psi

the ' i missed a gear ' makes me laugh cuz most cars ive raced with that excuse have short throws... and honestly i head ' i missed 3rd ' more then anything.... i know its not impossible but dam.... when i loose to another car ill fully admit it, however if i messed up on something ill make sure to have another 2 or 3 tries before im content with a win or loss.

ahh no worries, i hardly launch my car cuz it just spins tires, LSD doesnt really help that fact, i mean its great in other aspects but for launching it just rapes tires..... not good for racing non-lsd cars with no torque in the low rev range

like i remember the first time after i ran a race with my new tires i ****ed up the launch cause i expected it to hook better, so i lost by half a car, then the seccond time i nailed the launch and won by half a car.

the "my shift **** came off" is true, srt-4 shiftknobshave been known to come off alot

LMAO, I was at the Shop with him when he replaced it.

I raced a guy I knew up north and beat his Mustang with my Camaro.

He says "I can't push the car too hard cuz the oil pressure is messed up since I dented the oil pan hitting a turtle crossing the road."

I laughed my *** off then he got out his jack, jacked up the car and showed me the dent.

The Classic "I missed second Gear " always comes out .
