Finally got a HDTV

Are the Monster cables actually worth the price? They are around $80 here for a 6 foot one. I ordered mine from Amazon and got 2 HDMI's and 2 opticals for less then $20 and they look and work great. Monoprice.com is also a good place for cables.

My friend tested out best buys brand and monster, only difference was the blacks were blacker. My rocketfish ones look great to me. Monster does make quality products, however, I cant justify spending that money at this point in my life. Ill settle for a lesser known brand... But I do have their power cleaner and screen clean and I love both of those.

I have been looking for a few days now for a new hdtv, wtf is the big difference between 720 and 1080, other than the price. Is it that much more of a deal to pay more for the 1080?

For example my TV is a 1080p and has 1920x1080 resolution. So obviously the higher you go the better the picture.

the cheaper ones have a huge failure rate, and may or may not work at all, monster id the only company that will guarantee it to work. I normally hate monster, but on this it's worth it

depends on size, and distance you sit from it. If going under 46" and sitting over 6 feet from it don't worry about spending the extra go 720 you won't see a bit of difference, if going 50" and under 10 feet same thing. Bear in mind also that some 1080 sets do not actually do that (many cheaper ones are fudging the specs a bit) also note that any large store demo is a complete waste as they have multiple items hooked up, flourecent lights, and usually are not calibrated (even a little) not to mention the tv's adjacent will change the pictures on other sets (light is not a tv's best friend)

I'll be looking to upgrade soon as well with my 360...- I'm impressed already with the quality of the picture with just regular TV, I can't wait to see what it looks like on HD..

I'm not going too big most likely around 32" or no higher than 46" at the most and Its not over 6ft away Its not a really big room. so its going to be fairly close, Hell I might set it up to be right at the end of my bed since thats where I watch most tv/ xbox 360 anyway. I have read a few other sites that say the similar things you said arch about the distance and size, So I might as well save a few hundred and get a 720p, just use the rest I was willing to spenc on a decent suround system.

Good deal arch.
I came to the conclusion that Its not really worth paying the extra money for it really.
But I decided also on trading in my integra on a 01 nissan frontier. Its pretty nice yellow king cab, 4x4 super charged v6, black leather interior and has pretty much all the options available for that year. So with that im not sure if I am going to buy the tv yet or not, I might have to wait depending on how much this process of getting the truck costs.
