Gettin Straight in Life
Well the last few weeks I have been putting alot of thought into my life. Well I put alot of thought into what I wanted to do once i got out of the military and i have been wanting to do something law, so i decided once I get out I'm going to go to the Academy to become a State Trooper. Thats my goal, for me to reach there while I'm over here I'm going to be taking classes to get a associate degree in Law(Criminal Justice-Police). Im also in the process of quitting smoking, because my grandfather came down with Lung Cancer, so I'm using that as my motivation to quit. I'm trying to pay the rest of my debt off by the time I get back, and i will have accomplished that once i reach the states, so all in all im trying to get my life straight, and have a plan for when I get out.

Sounds like a good plan bud. I've been trying to quit smoking myself as well, its a tough one.
As per employment in the State Troopers, its a pretty good area to be in. Have you checked into being a Sheriff though? When I was trying to join law enforcement I checked the local PD, sheriff and the state troopers, and found the sheriff to be the best avenue; but state troopers comes a close second.
Anyway, keep it up man!

Same here I plan on doing state police or state corrections when I get out. Since I am an MP in the army alot of my friends and senior leaders that get out go into the law enforcement carear once out of the military. One thing that Is allways brought up is college, Everyone that I talked to that got out and went that route told me not to go to college for criminal justice unless you want to get into paralegal or lawyer for your masters. Pretty much all agencys have thier own police academy you will be required to go through, a CJ degree is not required any college degree is accepted they will teach you everything you will need in the academy. Reason being is that If you are injured in the line of duty or find yourself in some legal problems and can no longer work in the law enforcment field you will have something to fall back on for a backup plan. I am working on getting a physical education degree. I will have a degree with the required hours to get into the academy plus have the reasurance that I could allways fall back on that degree if need be.
Just some food for thought on the subject.

Good choice on the smoking. My grandpa died of Lung Cancer, and my dad has been smoking since he was like 15.. I vowed I would never start smoking. Ive had a couple in my life, but I wont become addicted and start.
