No but I've always wanted to have a shifter cart.

The track that Danica Patrick use to race her shifter cart at isn't that far at all from me. Actually my brother and I have talked about going over there and renting a cart to take around the track a couple times.

I built one once as a kid, a majority of the parts can easily be aquired through actual car dealships, motor cycle dealerships and basic parts shops.....hell when i did it, i went the easy way around and took the engine out of golf cart to put into mine, just gotta work a tweak on it to get it to go faster, and 4x4 engine works the same way, just tweak it a little...

4x4 meaning 4 wheeler? any way a lawn mower engine would work or would it not run on its side b/c of the sprocket? what about a frame whats the best thing to use?

you should be able to get basic plans off of the internet. But we tried to build some in metals class last year. My cart was the only one that got done except we didn't use motors. You should be able to use a lawn mower engine i think if not just go buy a golf cart for cheap and use that some of the old golf carts have harley motors in them at least our old one did. And my only other advice is make it as light as you can.

after actually thinking about this and making some plans...i have decided to see if i can buy just a frame for one lol. i can weld but i hate messing with steering and brakes. i could throw a motor on one easy enough so if i can find a frame this is my next project.
