you have an Ectomorphic body type , with a fast metabolism . If you are working out , you need to do it properly to target muscle growth and then complement that with lots of food
I'd sugest you eat candy bars during ( towards the end ) or after your work out , and try to eat 5 - 6 meals per day , with a strong emphasis on eating lots of proteine right before you go to bed ( tuna and egg whites are some of the best things here , but don't eat the yolk before u go to bed , unless u're planning to have sex all night in bed and not sleep :P ) .
Ectomorphic body types are a blessing if you like food and like to work out , because you never have to fight extra kilos .
If you really want to you can get bigger than you've ever imagined , as long as u know what u're dooing and if you stick to it .

Protein shake is not that good for you , it's low cal and it tends to make your metabolism even faster . Also it's quite filling meaning that you'll loose your apetite for something that will get faster under your muscles .
The metabolism gets slown down by more carbs , in which case ppl like me get fat and ppl like you start gaining muscle .
Especially when you work out ( well arround 1 hour after ) your body consumes carbs in a different manner , using them more for your muscle . Same thing happends when you're sore a day after gym , but not nearly as fast as it happends in the first hour after you've hit your muscles .
There is a great confusion in body building when it comes to Candy bars and Protein Shakes . I'd say that Ectomorphs have to stick to candy bars and get their protein from lots of food (mind you , don't become a MC Donalds regular , but eat lots of meat (chicken esp) , rice , potatoes and fish) , unlike the Meso and Endomorphs that need to separate the protein , well from the carbs so that they don't get fat .
