^Although i like civics more than any VW...urs was never quick....no offence...

If u had a swap, than i would say otherwise.....

Maybe for a stock 1.6 d-series it wasnt bad....

And I only like turbo VR's....Maybe even twins....

bah, VWs are getting faster and faster and more reliable. The fastest stock block 1.8T i know of did a 10.8@135mph pass, i even have a video of it. G60 motors can take 24psi boost on stock internals, 2L 8vs and 16vs have been known to handle 18psi+ with T3 60trims stock bottom ends ( ARP bolts im sure), VRs take between 16-18psi depending on compression ratio. All stock motors. I know that most other companies cant boast something like that.

only thing is differentials, and considering quaife and peloquin make great ones, only shearing off gears can be a problem. And every car i know of that pushes 400pft+ will have problems with stock trannies shearing gears. One thing i do think they need to improve is the throw on the shift levers, whoa, its long compared to other cars.

As far as reliability they arent worst then average for sure, so i have no idea where this "vws arent reliable" crap started, if you prep the tranny, the engines are indestructable.
