Nice to meet you Gonads (It kind of sounds funny when I say that...)

The people may laugh and joke, but it is a sweet ride. I live in a country where pot holes and lawless driving exists. Gas prices are too high and the large suv and trucks are too high profile for break ins and police traffic tickets. One needs to move through the streets with ease, keep a low profile and fit in any sized parking space. The YUGO 1990 GVX was the perfect choice.

For $400, I was barely able to get it from a farmer's house to my mechanic 30 km away. one month and $1000 later, she was ready. Mechanics charge $6 an hour in Costa Rica and the Yugo was a popular car in the late 1980s, so parts were cheap and in abundance at any junk yard. After the paint job, she looked sharp. I still cannot believe it runs so well and on $15 a week in gas, I like her that much more.

I agree, sometimes the classics are better.

Coolieboi

Thanks for the reply.

I have a regular sized 13 inch tire, so it wouldn't fit there.

She is great with gas and does get second looks from people because of her unique style. Any car can look sharp if done correctly. In a third world country, I can get dates just because I own a car! Sometimes, people say "nice car" just to get a ride. I just smile...

The jokes are never ending. But hey, I am driving a piece of history, literally.
