Half-Life 2 vs Bioshock

Alright I'm looking into getting a new game for my Xbox 360 and these are the two I'm thinking about. I'm sure I'll end up buying both but I would like to buy one now and start playing it.
The reason I don't buy them all right up front is I end up beating them and not enjoying them nearly as long as I could if I do it this way and with winter coming up I need something to keep me busy.

I haven't played this version of half-life, I played the original on my PC years ago and really enjoyed it.
I have played BioShock but just for a couple hours, my dad bought it and left it at my house for two days. Again I enjoyed it as well.

They are similar games in style but still very different.

Here's a list of games I currently own for my XBox 360:
Halo 3
Gears of War
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Test Drive Unlimited
Project Gotham Racing 3
Ghost Recon 2
Need For Speed (I think it's called Most Wanted)

You're thinking about the Orange box right? If so they are both good buys. I own both and really enjoy them, the Orange box takes a little longer to finish. You really can't go wrong with either one.

I played a bit of HL2, its a good overall game. I think it was a nice truning point for gaming with in game physics. Havent played or even seen gameplay of bioshock, but I hear from everyone that its an awesome game.

Overall, Id say get orange box... It will last you a while, and its a fun game. I played the flash portals and even thats addicting.

And how do you not know what need for speed game you have lol.

ive got both and i must say i like HL2 way better than bioshock, bioshock can be tedious at times. Orange box has 5 games, and you can't beat the story.

Well I just bought a copy of Half-Life 2 (Orange Box) off eBay.

Help me understand the different games though.
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Portal
Team Fortress 2

Doing some reading I see it's a trilogy. Does that mean HL2 is the first one, then HL2 Episode 1 is the second and Episode 2 is the third? I guess I don't understand the differnce betwean HL2 and then the different episodes.

Alright it seems Wikipedia actually broke it down. So I need to play it in this order:
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
