hd has the same capacity as blu ray. There are all kinds of rumors about unbelievable sizes, but the guys who say tehy did it can't show anyone. Standard dvd's play on blu ray, but not with an hddvd (they have to add a whole other circuit to play dvd's with them) blu ray is based on dvd technology, but hd dvd isn't (how's that for ironic)

My question is....
if 1 movie is only on HD-DVD and they end up going under and Blu-Ray wins.....will that move then come out on blu-ray as well? (example as Transformers is only HD-DVD) |
Do you think I should wait on getting a nice HD TV now because of all of this?

(example as Transformers is only HD-DVD) The thing with HD movies is that it's really only important in movies with lots of computer effects. The best HD movies are the Pixar type movies, where the images are almost 3D. But if you're watching the Notebook or some crap you really don't need to see that in HD and a std DVD is just fine for the movie. |

Yeah, the biggest reason some movies arent dual format is contracts and alligence and such. As soon as one format wins, theyll get the rights to produce all those other movies. Transformers is a huge one right now, I think its one of the only things that kept HD alive haha.

I think the Porn industry is going to make the difference between who wins HD or Blu Ray honestly.

that is the consensus of the studios also. There is more money spent on porn videos than all other movies and music combined

Only problem with that is the Porn stars don't like being filmed in HD. It shows too many blemishes on them. It's created alot of new business for plastic surgeons who are touching the girls up constantly.

Wow thats a horrible reason on the porn stars part... Im sure they had to complain about that going from vhs to dvd.

Wow this thread definitly didn't go the way I thought it would.
This is why I didn't go out and by the Xbox HD-DVD player right away. I wanted to see if one format won out before I made a purchase or if it turned out to be a dual format future. I checked out the Xbox forums and people are talking about returning their Xbox HD-DVD players that they recieved for Christmas already. I might just end up getting a PS3 eventhough I really never planned on it before. If I have to get a Blu-Ray player I might as well get one that plays games as well. |
