Exclamation Helmet in cars - BS

Some jack *** at Queen's park royally mucked up. MPP John Milloy introduced a motion for mandatory helmets on bicycles in Ontario. Someone stuck an amendment to it asking the same for drivers as a way to save taxpayers money. Less head injuries, less money spent on healthcare is the rationale. Duh, cars go faster.

It is only a motion at his point but could make it to a bill. If that happens there could be a law requiring people to wear helmets when driving.

What a royal waste of money by some goof. It will never help. My MPP says if there is no opposition to the amendment it will go to discussion, there was not. So if no one opposes it in public comments it could become part of the bill. Right now they are asking the CAA to comment on it to oppose it stop wasting money, not sure if they will. Say there is little chance of it passing unless everyone stays quiet and it will go unnoticed into the bill.

Once the bill is written they vote. No opposition there it becomes law. Imagine wearing a helmet when you drive? Goes back to the '30's.

Apparently they are talking a 90% drop in head injuries caused by the posts in the car... when using a bicycle type helmet. My wife's car has side bags so why would she need one?

This has got me really steamed. A complete waste.

i dont think it will go through cause i dont think people can drive comfortably with helmets on their heads. imagine turning your head to check your left blindspot and hitting your head on the window, they saying "owe $%#@ing helmet", turning back towards the front and seeing an SUV at a deadstop 1m front of yuo... not very good.

I think it is ****ing stupid. leave the helmets to the race track, there is no need for them on a public road.
