How easy is it to listen in on cell phones?
I need to make a purchase from a company that will not accept online payments. So the only way to pay them besides a money order would be to give them my CC # over the phone. However I'm kinda nervous about this as I doubt the security of a cell phone. So are cell phones somewhat secure or can anyone with a decent up to date scanner pick up your conservation?

they can pick up your conversation, but it would be at random, they couldn't specifically pick out YOUR conversation. With scanners, phone conversations just seem to pop up, and not only are they cell phones, but house phones too. I don't think you'd have too much to worry about, to be honest.

I can pick up any conversation that goes through the air, a cell phone is easier to pick up than a new cordless phone, but neither is easy (there are a few thousand frequencies in use in an area)you have more to worry about from the person your talking to than someone hearing it (78% of credit card fruads are from people who had access to the numbers, not online, and typically not mail order, usually the cashier at the grocery store or the like)
