isnt it just that it doesnt have the bolt holes for the lifter retainer and the lifter bores are much shallower?

it doesnt have the extra coolant passages an ltx has on top of the cylinder deck...lt1 has 5 on the top of the cylinder deck

ok ok, yes the coolant passages and the lifter valley is totally different. There are no holes for the 'spider' retainer or a hole for the oil pump drive to thread into.

And those are just the easy quick to spot things..
