stang wins by 1 point..........still GTO>Stang
yeah, 1 point really isn't much.. and by reading that, I'd def. pick the GTO over it.

Oh for the last time people use your brain and understand the GTO is not ment to stand out from the crowd. The old school GTO were not ment to stand out but be more of a sleeper car and that is what the new GTO's are. They are sleeper cars that look plain but can be deadly if underestimated. The GTO's quality and interior are leaps and bounds ahead of the shitstangs by leap bounds.
*sigh* Mild bolt-ons such as? It doesn't take much to get those 4.6L engines to actually perform decently. And what transmissions were in each of the cars? I'm not sure if the new GT still uses the previous automatic transmission, but those old Ford AOD transmissions were power-robbing pieces of crap, I won't deny that. Then again, if they're manual transmissions, you have to take into account the skills of the drivers involved, blah blah blah. There are too many variables involved to go off a single race, and take it as gold.

Unless you've driven both cars, and have fully experienced the performance of both, in STOCK form, you're speaking about a subject you're uneducated on. I have driven both, and have given each a decent run-about, and I can tell the differences. And I'm sure your LT1 'Vert with a bad coil really beat a new 05 GT, buddy. You are so full of sh-t, it makes my head hurt. Was the other guy even racing??

This is the difference between a 'Car Enthusiast' and an 'F-Body Enthusiast'... I used to think of myself as the latter, but this entire forum's user-base makes me feel so disenfranchised from the label that I'd rather be a 'Car Enthusiast', because while I do love my F-Bodies, I'm not blind about what else is out there, and I'm not about to be biased towards it just because I drive a Camaro. I respect all cars, not just my own kind.

As far as the GTO is concerned, when you see an old GTO Judge, you KNOW it's a GTO. When you see the new GTO, from a distance it could be a Grand Prix coupe. Sure, it's fast, and the interior's nice, and they're **** good fun, but they're also EXPENSIVE. Base MSRP of a GTO in the USA is $32,995. Base MSRP of a Mustang GT is $25,225. That's a fair difference. That's forty grand in Canadian funds, which is a lot for a two door coupe. The base MSRP of a Z28 was around the $33,000 CAD mark, which isn't much more than the current Mustang.

I have not driven or seen the GTO, thanks to it not being available in Canada until the new generation in '07, so I can not comment on it as far as performance or handling, but I'm willing to bet it's **** good. But the exterior styling is bland. I can't wait for the redesign.

You don't really know unless you were there. Like you said, there's lots of other things to take into consideration.

So, if you don't like this entire forum's userbase, I don't seem to understand why you are here. And you can still be an F-Body enthusiast and like other cars, which seems to me to be the userbase here. We all like other cars other than the F-Body. Most here aren't blind to what else is out there either, but everyone has to have a car that they don't like. A car can still be respected, but not liked. Which is often the case here. Everyone cares about something different. Most, but not all, here don't really care for Mustangs, but guess what? Mustang boards aren't gonna care much for Camaro's either.

Yeah, IF its a Judge. But when you see an old GTO from a distance it could be just an Pontiac Tempest. Or did you forget how the GTO got it origin?

Camaro94, it doesn't take a genius to know that there is no way that a 300 horsepower 05 Mustang GT would lose vs a stock LT1 Convertible F-Body with a 'bad coil' unless the driver of the Mustang GT was a complete dolt. And if you're bragging over a race in which the driver was inept, you're a sad sad case. My friend Matthew has a 95 Trans Am Convertible, and when the coil on that car went bad, you could feel it. He ran it with the bad coil, and went 14.9. Last time he ran was a 13.8. The new 05s run 13.8.

Do not put words in my mouth, I said I feel disenfranchised, I did not say I didn't like the entire forum. There are people on here that I like without a question, and people who ... well ... :banghead:. A car can be respected but not liked, sure, but when someone who doesn't know anything about the car starts bashing it, it pisses me off because they are making a completely uneducated remark all in the name of, what appears to be the case here, brand loyalty. Brand loyalty be damned, I say. If Honda makes a good vehicle, I'm going to say "****, that's a good vehicle, and these are my reasons", not "Uhhh, it's a Honda, IT'S GAY. GM 4 EVA."

I know exactly how the GTO got its origin. But in the same breath, when you bring back what was once a big player in the American muscle car scene, you don't bring it back looking like a friggin' Grand Prix. I know obviously they couldn't help it because Holden was producing them in that form, but come on, can you really tell me that anything about that car shouts 'American muscle icon' to you? From what I've seen and heard, the cars perform astonishingly, but they just don't command attention.

hey chill, this is all opinion here..you can say what u will, i still think the GTO>Stang, and go buy a 67 mustang man if u want 1 so bad. little boys ware bowties but little girls ride ponys. GM actully did a really good job on the new GTO's Interior, there will be alot of changes at gm, Start producing cars people want rahter then makin em look the same n puttin big rebates on them. They re did the caddy line. N now there gonna redo the rest.
