I said I wouldn't get sucked into the next gen gaming void.

And PS3 is going to blow XBox 360 out of the water... notice how they continued working on it while they let 360 come out without competetion. I saw some of the behind the scenes movies, and they are getting into some really nice detail in the games, check out fight night round 3 sometime and look at how much detail is in that game, its crazy. But ps3 will be too much money which will be its downfall.

well ive been arguing the whole xbox vs ps2 thing based on graphics.
now that the game systems are coming out in 400-600 dollar range i am actually evaluating game consoles on gameplay. so far, im not seeing any valuable gameplay on 360, and i cant argue for the graphics either.

IMO the 360 came out with very good launch line up. At least it started with some 1st party titles unlike the PS2 which left gamers stuck with all 3rd party titles.

You can close down any operation you would like in windows, and most of the ones that need to be running in the bg dont require many system resources. If you are having an issue with that, I say you need more ram.
As for the key mystery, who knows why they did that. I hated it at first, but now Im used to it, and find it very comfortable for shooter games (which is the majority that I play). But a few games are pretty crappy with those keys, I hated playing juiced with them. But you cant pass up a fully compatible system that can take all titles in: halo, gta, madden, ect... not to mention you have online play that is WAY better than any console.

I paid $80 for a graphics card that could handle most of todays games, which I overclocked to get even a little more speed out of.
