I'm not going to get into the politics and all that that I don't care about, but all I can say is that when I leave this continent on a vacation, I'll be proud as hell to tell people where I'm from. Something you'd eventually regret doing if you were an American.

Like b6 said . I got a buddy in the states who just last summer stopped in for a bit on his way back to the states after a trip to Rio . I noticed a clean rectangular spot on his jacket sleeve and asked him about it . Oh , he says i had a little patch of the American flag there . I took it off before I went outta the country..77.

Last I checked, the US doesn't have French, nor Spanish as official languages. Why should he have to speak them? He represents the people of America, not Mexico or Quebec.

Sure it will, Mark.
So when are you moving to the states? You should stop brushing your teeth now, that way you'll fit in nicely when you get down to Texas.

And he knew about his policies. he even passed a law to help canada say united for sure (quebec separtists were pissed if you don't know about it) and he even started the surplus which we are benefiting from now. You should be burned if yu did not think he represented the country well.

Just because you had difficulty understanding the guy due to his accent doesn't mean he didn't know what he was talking about. Actually that means YOU didn't know what he was talking about.
The Danes didn't just publish a cartoon, they published a cartoon of Mohammed, an act which is FORBIDDEN by there religion. So until we start publishing pictures of Jesus hung upside down from a cross or something along those lines I don't see us not being accepted around the world.
Well, that is until Stephen Harper gets us in too deep with his, and your, new bum buddies down there is the U.S......

I don't think Chretien represented our country well, no. Nor do I think Martin did. Or any other liberals for that matter. Chretien was a laughing stock.
Harper on the other hand, has done an excellent job thus far. I want to see Canada have good relations with the US, not random countries thousands of miles away. I want our government to stand behind our troops, not cut funding and forget they're overseas. Let's not forget Chretien's great contributions to our military by purchasing USED submarines from Britain for not exactly pocket change...Which proved to be absolute garbage. He may have represented YOUR interests, but not mine or any conservative for that matter.

Is Christmas no longer considered sacred here? Or Christianity? Apparently not, thanks to liberalism(which puts minorities first - Don't even try to argue that, because it would be a waste of time). You might stand around thinking it's ok, but I actually value my heritage and my beliefs. I couldnt' care less about a cartoon they're going all jihad on...If it was up to me, they would have been wiped off the face of the earth ages ago.
I just really despise the Global Juggernaut that is the United States. They are however the only thing keeping Communism from enveloping the world. *cough* China *cough*

Amen.

And while it is true that Christmas is widely a commercial holiday now, anyone who grew up with it most likely knows what it was based on...It's part of how I and MANY others were raised - If in Aghanistan, they don't want to accept it, fine. But here...For many to turn on their own people and give into the whole BS that "Christmas" is offensive...I say **** them. They're a bunch of spineless pieces of that don't have the ***** to stand up to immigrants that want to run things here. I put things...overly blunt, but you know what I'm getting at I think
As much as people here(especially Toronto, as it's been noted by many medias) choose to hate the US, it's the most powerful country in the world and our neighbor...Bottom line
Not to mention that our lifestyle here is a mirror image in many ways of south of the boarder and it ranges from coast to coast(ie vancouver to seattle, alberta to texas)...If someone can say they truly hate or despise the US, then that doesn't say too much for Canada either

I don't think I can agree with you on the statement that we are a mirror image of the U.S. Maybe of some of the northern states, but definitely not the south. I think it's great that we have them on our side and as a neighbour, but that also makes us a target for anyone that hates the U.S.
Up until recently we have kept our noses out of other peoples business, but my bet is that is going to change. The only thing I can see that will be our saving grace is that our country is a perfect base of operations for any terrorists since we are so lax with our immigration.
I really just hate George Bush and the Military industrial complex that he and his father have created.
