If you miss-shift or spin tires, etc, and lose, you still lost!

Something that I hear all too often from people is stupid things like...."I mis-shifted so you didn't beat me"...... "Damn right he did.....shifting is part of racing and what separates the big boys from the rest." If you miss a shift and lose...you lost....if you spin your tires like crazy off the line and lose.....you still lost...learn to launch your car or get better tires or don't run.....

If you choose to race.... then accept the results.....if you mis shift...you can say to him after.....damn I missed a gear...if we go again, you might not win next time... If you rematch him and he misses a gear does that mean that you didn't win? Of course not, controlling the car is all that racing is about.

If you expect your car to do all the work, you'll never be able to compete with the accomplished racers.....it's a mental game.....and we all know where the gears are in our cars, so if in the heat of the moment, you get too excited and miss a gear.....your fault, no one else's, and you deserve to lose this time.... not really much different from throwing a late game interception... you lost concentration and lost because of it...your fault.

In serious heads up racing with 2 evenly matched cars....the thing that decides the winner is not the car, it's the driver.......it's the reaction time, the 60 ft.....the shifts....the consistency.....

I know people who never miss a shift (I've missed a few, but never used it as an excuse), and who can drive their car the exact same number time and time again...consistently.....that's what makes a driver.....

Especially in drag racing...it's soo exacting.....it's all about banging the gear at the right time...the right amount of throttle on the launch, etc.

LOSING IS LOSING. If you miss a shift and never get a rematch again....don't blame him for running scared, blame yourself for missing the gear when the game was on the line...... No one cares if the loser of the Super Bowl, throws 25 touchdowns in the park the day after the big game...
...You gotta bring your A-game during the tournament, not during practice.

I agree 100% with that statement. Its not the car that wins the race, its how the driver drives the car that wins it.

hinting at something

was this post hinting at something that might of happened last wed (apr 27) either way. true to the point.

CaptTurbo 05-02-2005 04:52 PM

not about anyone or thing.... just a buildup of hearing it over and over and over, you know.

shuller1458 05-02-2005 09:27 PM

Best of three races is for chumps! :smilie_da

When you race on the street there's no such thig as...yeah best of three takes the cake

Yo setup a pass...meet....race....see who wins..pay up...or whatnot and leave....come back again when you have enough, or make another pass worth while

Dr.Enigma 05-02-2005 09:52 PM

I agree. I've won a lot of races because of pure consistancy of driving. And I've also lost my share of races because I missed a gear or spun too hard ect... good thread.
