It's not my intention to bring anybody down by this, nor is it about sympathy......I just wanted to let you guys know that my recent withdrawl from the site is because my oldman has been going downhill for the last few weeks.

In the last 5 days his body has been shutting down, and from this point on it will only be about keeping him comfortable. Thankfully Hospice has been great with getting him a hospitol bed and supplying enough Meds to keep him out of too much pain.

He sometimes calls out my name and opens his eyes, but I know it's just because he's scared. After holding his hand and telling him it's ok, thankfully he relaxes for a while. I don't know how long his body will live without food, but as of now my Dad is gone. I don't imagine he'll last more than a few days, so thankfully this painful part of his life will be over soon.

This will be the last thread I post in until after I've had time to grieve over this great loss. He will be missed more than I can say,.....I just hope this whole thing doesn't find me jumping back into a bottle or doing something worse. So far I feel pretty good about handling this as well as I have, I just know it will be hard because he's not only my Dad, he's my best friend.

Sorry, I know it's another long post, but considering the circumstances I felt the need to explain my absence.

I'm sorry to hear that but he must feel good knowing you are there for him.
My mom use to be a hospice nurse and there were days she'd come home broken when someone passed away she had gotten close to. If there's ever anything I can do to help just let me know.

good luck man, we're all here for you. ive been in some similar situations but not with someone so close. i couldnt imagine being without my dad, but im sure you'll get through it. stay strong man!!!

Arch, its hard when someone you love so much passes, but the only consolation I can make is that at least you prepared for it and you have known to make these past months count that much more.
