Need Help:bought salvage car from U.S

hey guys i bought a Salvaged Cavalier from Florida its a 98 Red Convertible
and the ownership was lost and the insurance papers needed to clear the Title was lost as well and its still under the previous owners name,
so my Dilema is
I need to have the Title Cleared and the Ownership
can sombody tell me how this is done i called the Insurance company "Glasglow" and they said that i cant have the previous owners info because its classified.

Is there any way around this? i can give the Vin number if that will help.

you could do a few things... one not so legal.. the other would be to go thru the court process...ouch..

LankanHustla 07-04-2007 11:47 PM

i think the only way u can get thru this is illegally.. not tryna say u should. unless u could get in contact with the previous owner.

Did you lose the papers??. Maybe go take the vin and have a buyers package done up . That might tell you the last owners for twenty bucks and not a lotta hassles . Or maybe try that carfax stuff you see on ebay when buying cars ..77.

yea i guess that might work but if it waas the illegal way i need to find a mashed up cavi convertible now , and thats probably the same price i payed for this car . has anybody heard of the Court process for this type of issue , any1 kno hos its done? and if it cost anything and how much?

anybody know what an "afadavit or afadite" is ?

84camaro 07-05-2007 12:08 AM

its like a peice of paper with you swearing that the car and w/e is true and you legally own the car... basiclly you will need proof of purchase.. and the sigined sworn afadavit...(sp)... and you should..*should* get what yoru looking for...

also a HUGE hassel..

Nelly 07-05-2007 12:10 AM

ok and will this Afadavit cost me anything , and i might be able to get proof of purchase.

84camaro 07-05-2007 12:11 AM

Nelly 07-05-2007 12:12 AM

Canadian Affidavit & Declaration Forms

if this car is still in the usa you just lost your money.

on the other hand... why the hell would you:
1. buy a cavalier
2. buy a cavalier convertible
3. buy a us cavalier convertible
4. buy a us salvage title cavalier convertible

you can buy any similar scrap car up here for a couple hundred bucks.

Nelly 07-05-2007 10:12 PM

it was a 98 Cavalier convertible Z24 , and it was actually free ! =) my uncle owns a preformance shop he lost the insurance slip so he sent on the dilema to me 4 free, the car is mint but i just need to "legalize it"

GT.R 07-06-2007 12:05 AM

isnt florida one of those states that issues a certificate of destruction rather than a salvage title?

Call Broadway Title in Alabama and ask extremely nicely for a trade reference for someone that does salvage titles...

Nelly 07-06-2007 12:26 PM

a trade reference? i shall do so thanks, alot.

6Msentra 07-06-2007 01:14 PM

you will need a copy of the title, a lien release form, all recalls done plus proof.
if you do not have all of these documents once you reach the border your car will not be allowed in.

after all of the fees and transport costs and taxes etc... you might as well buy one up here for the going rate of about 200 dollars, and save some money.
