I'd much rather drive my automatic than a manual, no doubt about it. 1, traffic sucks with a manual. 2, the thousands of hills in the area sucks with a manual. 3, i'd rather have my other hand free for other things, IE if I'm driving with the girlfriend in the passenger seat.

Had I bought a V6 with a manual transmission, I would have had to spend a LOT more to bring the transmission to the torque handling specs that my current one has been built to.

Manuals are all well and good, but the usage and goal for the car must come into play when deciding whether to go with the manual or auto.

If I had a stock V8 for a daily driver, I'd definitely take the M6, every time. But for a car like mine, a built auto is the way to go.

Funny thing is my dad saids the same thing. He might own a manual for a weekend cruiser but he told me he would never own a manual daily driver.

well people used to tell me that i'd burn up the first clutch i learn to drive stick on...well my clutch was new when i bought the car and is still brand spanking new. stick is easy, just dont let the clutch out too fast and make sure you give it enough gas...its easy. all about feathering.

Yeah, the second time I actually got to drive a stick I only got to do it for like 20 mins... Give me an hour and I would have had it down. The only problem I had basically was stopping and starting on a hill, and sometimes starting from a dead stop. If I had more time to practice, I would have got it down. I think its fun though, I look forward to the day I get to own a manual.

Last time I took out an 05 Mustang GT from the dealership for the weekend, I made quite sure that WOT shifting was done without lifting my foot from the throttle.

Out of the 9 vehicles I have owned, only 3 have been auto, and those were all the past couple years. Manual is fun, but gets tiresome doin it all the time.

Since my car is more a street car than track, it won't have an auto in it...ever. Something about being able to grab 3rd and get the car to go sideways is always apealling to me...
