Arrow Over preparing or not?

I live in southwest Louisiana and it seems some people are just taking this Rita thing to far. A lot of people at the university are talking about how their not coming back (even though we do have school Thursday and maybe Friday). All the public schools are closed (lucky basturds) cause the buses are being used to ship people out. The only way I see Rita even hitting my area is if it just stopped in Gulf and went directly North (which is very unlikely). I don't know for some reason I'm not bothered by this while some people are almost freaking out over the situtation. If the winds get to strong my family will just go to grandma's house (safe for around 140 easy), if power is lost then we just turn on the generator, and if looters show up then it is time for target practice.

haha cat5. Now they just need a cat6 for hurricanes... especially when it seems as though a lot of hurricanes are reaching cat5...

I wouldn't worry where you are, you're far enough away it shouldn't be an issue. only way I'd be worried is if your in a flood area (that's waht did in new orleans they got the least winds)

Everything has basically been moved (note a 55 gallon drum of gas is kind of heavy) now all their is do is wait, I'm chilling at the home tonight and playing some xbox (might be the last night I get to hear my Cerwin Vega's). I wish I had a video camera but I don't so I will just use my digital camera to get snap shots of the hurricane. I love the way some people are deciding just now to leave, I mean where the hell are you going to go and how fast are you going to get there? Their are people in Houston that are having to turn back simply because their is no way they can get out in time (4 miles in 4 hours is what the media is reporting). I live off of highway 378 and it is just nothing but bumper to bumper traffic going 5-10 mph. I-10 is basically useless now it is so packed and the state really does not want people to go east because of the area hit by Katrina (governor said Baton Rouge is almost full and cannot hold any more people). The best bet for the people in my local area is to hit highway 171 or highway 27 if you plan to leave but at the rate things are moving the hurricane might just catch you on the road.

PS: Their may be a wall of water and wind coming this way but it is still burning ***** outside.

we are already getting flooding, and rain. It's not too bad to ride it out.I've sat through 4 now and not been scared (I stayed home through Ivan and we were at the eye of it and no problems)really most houses get roof damage,or trees down (look where trees are and avoid the parts of the house where they will hit
