I think I read on one of the forums threads that you were a prosecutor / crown attorney.
Am I right?
If so, would your views of " all you need for probable cause is to simply be on the road" be the same if you were a defence attorney?
See where I am going with this?

Mmmm I doubt it will. Looking at the statistics its more about an HTA cash grab 211 versus 2 DUI. And if I recall correctly in Metro at least there was a $60 million dollar budget shortfall they planned to make up with parking & HTA tickets.
And ERASE is much of the same, merely a nuisance that casts a large net on society hoping to pocket some money. Don't claim the focus is on 38 deaths in 8 years LOL.
Still waiting on the results of the occurence reports for the number of drunk driving incidents involving a speed contest "AKA: Street Racing" in 2006. I read it was over 50% and you balked.

Summary: The media are a bunch of useless scumbags that twist any LEGITIMATE words and form them into whatever they need to promote their agenda. Of course, we all know the police are behind that...
Freedom? What freedom? Ah, how basic rights have changed...Guilty until proven innocent MORE than sums up the approach now. There's a reason I'm ditching my Ontario license & plates.

this media is getting so old, and its probably not going to ever go away. Just deal with it. If you drive a modified car in the GTA area, you WILL get pulled over. There's no point of getting so worked up about it, cuz there's nothing we can do about it. This is the main reason why the automotive market for Toronto sucks ***. Nobody wants to modify their cars anymore cuz of this bs that comes with it. All the aftermarket companies in Toronto are going to go bankrupt.

It's sad but true in the last 3-4 months I've seen and heard about four shops go belly up since there isnt any more money in the market, people are nervous to do anything due to the B.S that follows..
Then again sadly the amount of morons who slap on hot air intake and 80 dollar coffee can exhaust who races a stock civic makes most of these problems...
On the flip side of things, Cops dont really need to risk there life going after drug dealers, killers and everything else in between when they pull over a modded car...
Still makes me chuckle that cops cry shortage in cops..but you would swear more then half of each respective force is our Friday - Sunday just hunting anything to pull over....

Its total bullshit how you get pulled over randomly just because your car is lowered or you have after market rims etc...
Has anyone heard about what happened to those two tools racing mommy/daddy's Mercedes and killed the taxi driver a while back???
They got something like 2yrs house arrest, and their sentence would've only been 3 years in jail if convicted...
How can we respect any type of "street racing" law...or a police force harassing anyone with "street racing mods" , when these two tools got off with a walk in the park after killing an innocent person???

who knows if they were actually racing. I mean if i was to go up north for the weekend and my buddy was going too, and we were each taking our own cars. We were both doing 140-160km and one of us hit someone on the way that pulled into oncoming traffic (btw, the cabbie is partly to blame for not looking before making a left hand turn into oncoming traffic "in fact if the kids hadnt been speeding it would have been all the cabbies fault") does that mean we were racing up there?
Ya ok speeding, but who does 100km exactly, 120 usually for most and 140 in the left lane and maybe 160 if in a rush. Well thats 40 over or even 60 for the faster cars. The road those kids where on is a 60, so doing 80 is driving like most on the highway.
I think it happened at a bad time when media was all over the street racing stories, compounded by the fact that when someone hears the word Mercedes they think super expensive and super fast car that kids shouldn't be driving. What the hell was the point of finding a video game of street racing in the car, if that we even true, didnt really hear much more about the video game lately.

Secondly you can't compare 20 over to 20 over if you know what I mean. The probability of death in an accident rises exponentially with speed so 80/60 isn't 120/100 know what I mean.
Thirdly, playing a racing game and then driving right after has serious psychological effects on how you want to drive and how you perceiveee other drivers especially at those ******** age.
On this topic though what's gonna more likely happen is that the worry wart acroos the street who's always watering plants is gonna rat people out to the cops not their parents.
COPS ARE GETTING TOO MUCH POWER AND PEOPLE ARE BECOMING MORE AFRAID TO STAND UP FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN!!!! THIS COUNTRY LIKE ALL OTHER FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES, IS TRYING TO HERD ITS PEOPLE INTO A DRONE STATE WHERE WE DO WHAT THEY SAY OR ELSE!!! LETS FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS!!!
Just my 2 cents. Funny how they don't blame commercials too often..they mosty talk about and portray how fast it can go

you guys hit hte nail on th head. shut down the shops so kids cant modify their cars. thats all thats happening. cars that arent modified likely wont be out racing and the tactic seems ot be working.
also on the video game thing, its for the weak minded drones, i can go out and play all the vids i want and i dont get the urge to follow through with what i did in the game. thats just a poor excuse people use

i dont think you can assume that just b/c they were young and driving high end cars over the speed limit means they were racing. And not to mention you say fast enough to kill, they didnt cross over into someone elses lane, another person pulled in front of them. Got tboned and went into a pole, from what i understand the kid basically walked away (i didnt read anywhere he was hurt) only the cabbie died. They said in some versions the kid was driving 140+, well that must be one safe mercedes then, car and then a pole?
Im not even totally sure if there even was a video game nfsu in the car, but even if there was, doesnt mean the kid was playing it before, or when ever. Media i think just hyped that for effect.
Ya fine its sorta different the 20 in the street vs 20 on the highway, ever driven on that road where it happened, most people are doing min of 80 there, they slow a bit when coming up to the area right after.
But a young guy prob would be doing 80-90 and in a highend car (as you put it) that is designed to drive on the autobahn at over 200kmh and be perfectly fine. Im sure if they were driving a minivan they would feel they where going to fast and the car would be all over the place (example: i used to have a sunfire, at 140kkm on the highway the car didnt feel very safe), but driving a bmw (i dont own a bmw, but just making a point) i have no problem at 140, half the time i cant tell the difference between 120 and 150.

The video game thing is completely stupid. It was prob. planted there anyways.
