Peel officer charged with theft

An officer with the Peel Regional Police Service has been charged with theft after an investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau.
The charges stem from a call in mid-May when the suspect was on a call with the Tactical and Rescue Unit, said Sgt. Taufic Saliba of Peel Police,
Saliba said the investigation and pending trial precludes him from revealing information about the case but he did say the charge is in connection to an undisclosed amount of missing money.
Charged is Const. Jason Sandilands, with one count of theft under $5,000 and breach of trust. The four-year veteran of the service has been suspended with pay and is to appear in court July 9.
