and I suppose racing in a straight line is. There was more passing in the last Nextel cup race than in the last ten years of F1.

I think Nextel is too much ing ads, and 1/10 of the skill required to compete in the F1's. Only reason people go there is for the crashes.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge F1 fan. I've got Schumacher stuff dating back to renault. But Nascar is a hell of a lot more interesting to watch. More passing, more crashes, more pit stops, more cars etc. However, F1 drivers have to have more skill. The real drivers in Nascar come out at Watkins Glen, Sears Point and Infineon. I hate Jeff Gordon, but lets face facts: he can drive. Look what happened when he and Montoya switched cars for some laps. After 4 laps Jeff Gordon turned two laps that would have gotten him into the top five in the last F1 race at that track. Montoya however had Gordons Nascar car all over the track. A stock viper will go around a corner harder than a Nextel Cup car, and accelerates to 160 mph faster than it as well. But Nascar is and always will be a redneck sport. Good example: Coors light, Budweiser, Miller light, Jack Daniels. You can't have smokes, but drinking and racing is O.K. F1 needs to get more variety of sponsors. They need to get a better T.V. contract. But after the U.S. Grand Prix, I'll be surprised if we ever see F1 in this country again. And I'm gonna miss it.

I know I'm double posting, but tough. You're right Nascar has too many ads. But the advertisers know that there is going to be millions of people watching that program. It's been that way for years and it isn't going to change. The reason it's not going to change? Crashes, fights, crashes, crashes and more crashes. You put 45 cars in the space of a mile oval, you're gonna get crashes. And people know it and they want to see it. And they're going to watch it. Also, no team contracts, no union, no lockouts, no strikes. Who gives a about hockey now? I was a huge Montreal fan, but all my Habs stuff is stuffed in a box in my cold storage. Maybe in a few years I'll start watching, but I haven't watched baseball since they striked and cancelled the world series and that was ten years ago. Nascar may be boring to watch for some people, but I'm going to have a beer in my hand on Sunday, my son beside me and both of us are going to have Dale Jr. hats on. After the F1 race and I put my Schumacher hat back on top of the T.V.

I love Bristol. Best track on the circuit. Rally racing is real racing. PERIOD. Nascar, F1, etc. complain when there's a peice of gravel on the track.
