I never had much issue with limewire, my anti virus caught the spyware and viruses before installing (not to mention if you pay attention to file size you can tell what is garbage) I have gotten a virus file off a torrent also but again it was caught right away

On a side note, I use Limewire pro sometimes and never had a problem.
First time I installed I took out all their ad ware tho.
