I rarely wear one.

#1 I hate the fact that it's a law. Especially since I live in a state that doesn't have a helmet law for bikes, mainly because of Harley being here and no one would dare want to upset the great Harley Davidson company.

#2 when I was little I got into an accident with my mom. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and that saved my life. Had I been wearing one a big metal pole that was hanging out the back of a truck we got rearended into ended up going thru the windshield and into the seat right where my head would have been. Instead I got knocked forward and the pole went over the top of me.

If the weather is crappy and the roads are bad I put it on. But it should be my choice, the govt shouldn't mandate it, and the govt shouldn't be allowed to forces states to impose the law by withholding federal funds.

The govt doesn't stop people from eating ding dongs, and heart disease kills a ton more people then not wearing seat belts.

All that said, it's probably a good idea to wear one.

That's pure coincidence, it's proven fact that seat belts will save your life more times that not. Plus what if the pull went just a little to the side? Then since you didn't have your belt on you would have been dead.

My point is that seat belts aren't going to save your life 100% of the time. Stuff happens and when your number is called it's called.

Like I said, it's probably a good idea to wear one. But that should be an individual's choice.
