I have decide today that I am going to part out my camaro and junk it. I dont really want to cause I love my car and I know I will miss it but it is just too far gone. It needs a new rear quarter from the previous owner tapping another car with it it needs new floorboards and the drivers side subframe rail is starting to rot where the trans crossmember bolts up. I have had the car for about a year now and I have had to replace the carb, the rearend, the tranny, the interior, the hood, the fenders, the drivers side door, front nose and ground effects, and the exhaust. The motor needs to be rebuilt due to the previous owner overtightening the rocker arms and collapsing the lifters. I feel I would be better off starting off with a new car. I still plan on getting another thirdgen and putting all the parts off this car on it and continuing on with making Grants vision come to life I just dont know how long it will take to find a suitable replacement. Man this is hard I dont wanna say goodbye to my baby :(

:( sell it to adric! dont junk it. that really sucks dude. i dont know if i could ever do that. you got balls

Amurican_Muscle 10-04-2006 06:45 PM

Oh man. Well do what feels right. Everything will be okay as long as you have at least 1 camaro at any time. Thats kinda how I felt about my chevelle. Overwhelmed by rust and things needing to be redone. So I sold it and got something a little more complete.

BLACK ICE 10-04-2006 06:56 PM

Yea I was willing to work out the issues untill I pulled the old trany and saw the subframe rail all swollen under the trany crossmember :(

Dude. Mine was a 72 Chevelle too. Cool deal. :D

BLACK ICE 10-04-2006 07:15 PM

Yea I saw a pic of it. it looked nice but I know exactly what you mean about it being so far gone mine looked ok too but it had hidden rust in bad spots.

FORCE_FED_Z 10-04-2006 09:04 PM

with a unibody once you get rust on the 'frame rails' kiss it goodbye. Not worth messing with after that-

Get what you can in parts out of it and start fresh. If your body facias are decent you aren't really limited in what you can get. If you don't mind the work you could always start swapping parts and make a nice car to build.

But at least now you know that its more whats under the car that matters than how it looks above..

ouch man its okay just think of the next project and ull be okay:)

BLACK ICE 10-05-2006 03:30 AM

I know its just hard to say good bye after all the money I got into it but at least I can all go on and in the new one. No I just gotta find a good rust free shell here in wisconsin and surounding areas :( I wish I lived down south I wouldnt be going through this. rust free shell round here are going for like 1200 plus :(

2000v6cam 10-05-2006 03:39 AM

that sucks dude, rust is one of those things thats usually more work than anything to try and fix and on a unibody its crazy work, but ull get another project just buy it from somewhere like here in az or somewhere dry and just drive to pick it up or ship it it will probably be worth the extra money or time IMO

BLACK ICE 10-05-2006 08:34 PM

good idea if any of you guys know of a cheap rust free thirdgen let me know it does not need to be complete just no mainbody damage of rot.
