A well made AK47 is going to run you at least a grand (And keep in mind, you are not going to be getting a Russian made Kalashnikov, those are quite rare now and cost around $5k). Unless you get a Chinese made POS.
I personally have all of my rifles and pistols gunsmithed before I would even consider them reliable.

Reliable...hasnt jammed yet and I clean them every other day either because of boredom or because they were fired. And if they were fired, theyre cleaned right after. Its how you treat your firearms that makes them reliable.

shooting blank rounds is way more dirtier then using regular ammo. Id get an AR15, so many mods you can do to them, from a R.I.S. to a R.A.S. system, to custom pistol grips, stocks, rails, sights, scopes, barrels, mags, metal mody, ect...so if you wanted to put more money into it later, then it can be done!

Right now I'm leaning more towards a gun or putting the money into my IRA than doing the leather interior.
A gun is not a toy!
I go to the shooting range all the time and move on to harder targets, i.e moving targets, etc...
It's a sport that takes time, patience, work, and practice to master.
Sorry if you don't like them for anything other than hunting but that doesn't make them instantly toys.

my only toy gun is my airsoft gun, and i still treat it like a fire arm because it still has dangerous projectiles that shoot out of it especially when your gun shoots 400fps. Also your right, even when i was 7 with my first BB gun, I always practiced gun safety and practiced a lot, I actually was very skillfull with my pellet gun when i was younger with better eye sight. I do have a 30 dot 6 but never used it. Its a cool rifle though, my dads friend borrowed it for hunting and got some deer with it. But yea AK's are cool, but I dont like style weapons nor like supporting chinese brand weapons.

My personal opinion: A well made AK47, with the right gunsmith, is a decent weapon. Mostly due to the fact that they can handle rough usage very well. Even if you never clean a good AK, it will typically still fire.
The problem with the AK, is first off, 7.62mm rounds are expensive, high recoil, and due to the gun, inaccurate. Get me in a gunfight in a mid-size area and i'd rather have a MP5 than an AK.
If I were you, and you really wanted a good rifle, i'd find an AR15 or an M4, as everyone else has said. I personally prefer the M4, due to the size difference. The accuracy and recoil will blow you away. A 5.56 feels like a .22 to me when firing non auto. And you can hit a quarter at 250 meters if you're a good enough shot (And can see it). Not to mention all the amazing options for it.
But, if you like the UZI, and the sub-machine gun style, there are quite a few options. My personal favorite is the TMP, made by Steyr, it has always been my favorite in my fathers gun collection. Its an amazing PDW, but fun as hell to shoot. I've found them for decently cheap, but they are getting more and more rare. You'll probally end up finding an SSP (Special Service Pistol) version of the TMP, which has already had the auto function removed, and does not come with an extended mag or front grip.

Nothing final yet but I've been doing a ton of research online to see what people are saying about the leather and guns to see which would fit me best.
Or like I said, I might decide not to do either and just throw the money into my IRA if I haven't met the maximum amount already for this year's contribution.

Plus I wouldn't buy a Chinese made gun, I don't think you should trust something as important as a gun to a communist country like China.
I was talking to LeatherSeats.com and they said to make it look good I would have to sew some of the leather on the dash and such. I agree with them and I think that's part of the problem. I'll probably go with the gun because I know I'll be able to use it no problem but I'm afraid I mess up the leather ofr the interior.

Just because use guns like it doesn't mean I'm supporting them in any way. I would NEVER do anything like that.
