Personally I think these laws should be completely seperate from each other. Why would they put that and gay marriage together as it makes no sense to me whatsoever.
I agree that you should have say. Otherwise they could spend forever trying to contact her parents for all you know live in Cali or something. Plus they could hate you and make a choice not for her own good but just to get back at you.
I feel there should be an easy(key word here) that someone can say that in case of whatever(tons of things here) that this person can decide what happens to me. Personally I would like an easy form you can print off online, sign, notorize, and then mail off and you'll have the right. That way you can get it done in a day and just as easily change it if you break up.
