watch for mto

i got pulled over by mto and given a ticket for no cat. they took my plates and said i could not drive or sell my car until the court date. the court date was 3 months after. the cop said if i plea guilty and prove to them i got the cat put on i will get the plates. otherwise if i dont they will just set another date and make me wait another three months until trial. this ruined my summer, the court date is on the 21st and i'm obviously going to plea guilty and pay the fine. hopefully i get my plates back and then i can run some of you guys.lol

Why not just put a cat on the car ....

..77. 09-17-2006 12:51 PM

Why not just put a cat on the car ,....but punch the guts out of it before you actually install it . And buy a cat that has a brand name and numbers on it . And install it with the numbers down so it can read with a spy mirror. Seems simple to me ..77.

Just because the salesman told your mom the car wast pretty fast when she bought it ...Doesnt mean " you " own a fast car.

gtown69 09-17-2006 12:58 PM

i did but i still have to wait until the court date to prove that to them. i have to show a receit and plea guilty for not having a cat at the time.

X_LUDWIK_X 09-17-2006 01:09 PM

Plead stupid.

gtown69 09-17-2006 01:16 PM

you obviously get what i'm trying to say. you better watch who you're calling stupid. does calling someone stupid make you feel smart.

f^ck you.

rabbitman 09-17-2006 03:01 PM

You know, I still haven't figured out why people pull the cats. For the 2 hp, and 1.5ft lbs, vs a ticket, and no car? Hmm let me think for a second. :hitwithro

gtown69 09-17-2006 03:03 PM

are you sure its only 2hp?

rabbitman 09-17-2006 03:10 PM

On a 4 cyl, yes. V8 might gain 5 to 6. And, the worst part is, most performance shops sell high flow cats, for around the same price as stock ones.

gtown69 09-17-2006 03:27 PM

i bought a 3 inch magnaflow high flow cat. i'm looking for a aem ems so i can tune my car to have a cat. until then i cant even hit boost. and you're right it was'nt that expensive.

The 3" cat I had wouldn't let the car boost past 16psi, regardless of where I had the boost controller set. It was just restricting the exhaust so much that even with the wastegate fully shut, it wouldn't boost past that point. I punched the guts out of it, reinstalled it, and that problem was fixed.

Then I replaced the cat with a working one :D.

They have tho's now?

pg29 09-17-2006 10:18 PM

it probably won't work, but try to plead not guilty and show them a pic with a cat installed and say that the mto officer just didn't look in the right place and you don't know what a cat was so u couldn't prove him wrong at the time.

ALLAN_M 09-17-2006 11:10 PM

gtown69 wat kinda car do u drive?

gtown69 09-18-2006 09:00 AM

Hellbent 09-18-2006 03:46 PM

^ No suprise there. "rolleyes"

silentcivic 09-18-2006 03:52 PM

my car runs rich and backfires often

backfire = melted cat

melted cat = no exhaust gases leaving

no exhaust gases leaving = blown motor

cats belong on stock cars:smilie_da

Really so why do WRC rally cars have Cats, and they seem to run fine and make power without them.
Why does Stillen have cats on their stupidly big HP cars.
Why does Hennessy still have cats on their 1000HP vipers. or Lingenfelter
need I go on.

god, this forum has to many retards.
I think 90% of the retarded street racers/ricers in Toronto come here.

NOTORIOUS VR 09-18-2006 05:29 PM

its been done, its nothing special, its the furthest from original you can get, no one really cares.

spike sr20det 09-18-2006 10:26 PM

The mto can tell it the cat has bin punch out or not, so don't even punch it out.

Maybe if you do a hack job of gutting it. Not if you do it properly...Visually anyways.

I have seen a car gain over 80whp by opening his exhaust dump and bypassing the cat/muffler. Same boost level. :smilie_da Needless to say his cat back was very restrictive.

Yea, what would be real original would be a jbody that is actually fast.

yup...cause there isnt any right? :stroke:

2TONE_93GT 09-19-2006 06:03 PM

my stang catted lost 120+ rwhp.
Fixed the problem, punched.
It just wouldn’t build boost.

The MTO will usually use their asp and tap the cat to see if its hollow.
Really, in most cases a cat wont affect your performance to a noticeable degree.

surgemaster 09-19-2006 06:11 PM

a cat makes a huge different on a turbo car as long as you're running high boost ;p

rabbitman 09-19-2006 06:49 PM

Yeah, but he's not driving a turbo V8, with 600 wheel horsepower. I don't have to run cats at all, and there's nothing the MTO can do about it. :D

surgemaster 09-19-2006 06:50 PM

lucky you :)

rabbitman 09-19-2006 07:45 PM
