So what exactly happens when you push the button at a set of traffic lights when you want to cross?

I heard it just allows the pedestrian light to stay lit longer. It doesn't make the light change faster. So it knows that there's a pedestrian walking, it'll give them more time to cross, that's all... most people don't seem to know this...

It doesnt do , thats what i noticed, stupid piece of light is just there to make us feel better when we cross the road, like we can do something about it, its like people flashing their high beams on red lights.

There's certain lights which are for crossing only... on those if u press the button the light will go red within the next 20 seconds or so

On some traffic lights the Pedestrian signal wont change to walk if the button isn't pressed, ir just stays as the hand.
