I can understand it though, a police officer is supposed to seem impartial (notice I said seem that is the important part)

i dont feel like typing it all over again so heres my quoted post from another message board:

"i didnt read all the comments so i'm sorry if i'm repeating but this is my opinion on the matter. she should live.. and my reasons are:

1. if she absolutly HAS to die, starve to death? what an inhumane way to go. thats
2. her husband has a new life. he has two kids with another woman and will be getting a ****load of money when Terri dies
3. she doesnt have a living will, her "saying" she wouldnt want to live like that is all based on what people say
4. anyone could say they would rather die, but when it comes down to it, are you sure? ex - i could swear up and down that i would give my life for my bf but if i really had to make that decision, what would i do?
5. there was a woman in a very similar state who came out of it
6. she is still able to respond in the smallest of manners. when he father asked her if she wanted to go for a ride she smiled at him, etc. and while you can say that its just her nerves and it was a coinsidence (spelling?) that she responded when her father asked her that, is it a coinsidence that she responds in these small ways whenever someone enters her room?"

now that i have read the rest of the posts...

the reason the parents cant make the decision is that LEGALLY, its the husbands decision. some ******** about her being over 18 so they cant have a say.

camaro94 03-26-2005 12:22 AM

yeah, when you becaome of age, they have no control over matters like that, only possibly, if there was no one else around.

no_eye_candy 03-26-2005 12:25 AM

yeah, this whole situation really sucks. i feel bad for her. especially if she can feel all this and she has to suffer through starvation. who can really be sure, tho?

b4mytm 03-26-2005 09:31 AM

I guess my biggest problem with this situation is that I don't think the husband should have any say in the matter due to him being with another woman and has kids with her.He should divorce Terri and move on.Obviously the only reason he hasn't yet is the money he would be getting after she dies.I'm not saying he doesn't care about her,and I wouldn't blame him for moving on with his life, but it just isn't right how he is going about the whole thing.

I personally wouldn't want to be kept alive for 10 years like that, but the parents see something in her that makes them believe she will come out of this.

I guess this will make people think about getting a living will so that this doesn't happen again.

no_eye_candy 03-28-2005 02:32 AM

he cant divorce her because she cant sign the papers. and i think its more hope than belief with the parents, but no one can really be sure

Whatever the decision is I cant wait to stop seeing it everyware

to make a long story short, this woman has been living off a feeding tube for 15 years and now her husband wants to take it out. shes pretty much in a vegetative state. her parents want to keep her on the tube. once off, she has at most 2 weeks to live. as far as i know, shes off right now and shes been off for a little while. a lot of the fact (tho bias because they are my opinion) can be found in my first post and within peoples comments

go here for information. i havent been there yet but i heard its good. again, from what i understand its bias (if i'm spelling that word right) but i'm not sure
