I totally agree with you. Have you spoken to anyone with a skyline or rx7 from japan? Those cars are very hit or miss in terms of problems and you miss more often than hit. Talk to the people who have those cars and ask how much they've spent so far on keeping it running. I've spoken to them and most people just end up getting rid of theirs when the problems start. And when you consider the cost of gas,parts and repairs it's a much more pricey car to maintain.

Plus come next year a jdm might very well be harder to get in canada that is less than 20 years old because they wanna change the law to a 20 year minimum for importing.

i have Over 9g in my bank account right now.. I sold my prelude but im waiting for the right 97-98 240sx to import from the states... Cause there alot cheaper and alot better condition down there....

Hmm I know nothing about importing? right.. well ive imported about 9 eclipses from the states and 3 of my buddies have a skyline and 2 have a rx7.. there nothing to importing it.. and its not much work getting it on the road... i dont know why you seem to think there so much work..

No disrespect or anything bud, but it's pretty obvious you don't have a clue what it takes to get a JDM car to pass all the inspections here in Ontario without some kind of hookup. It's not easy- you have to get DOT glass, headlights, and side markers, DOT tires, and other small little that adds up.

Most of the Skylines and RX7's that are for sale in ON right now were brought in before the government started to pay more attention to these cars. You can bet that in a couple of years you won't be able to get JDM cars in Ontario. Why do you think that a Skyline GTS-T Type M can sell for $10K in Ontario but would be hard pressed to get $7K in Alberta or BC?

Importing from the states is much easier- bring it up, pay the taxes, get DRL installed, and boom, you're done. Importing from JDM land is much more difficult.

Exactly man. These guys are posting nothing but ranting bullshit. I know you said you won't buy the car and hell that fine with me..These clown are acting like I expect everyone to like the car and buy it. Also correct is that importing from the US is wayyyyy easier than from Japan especially when I didn't buy the car from a dealer here.

Again someone else that actually knows something about importing. Spoolin seems to think that importing from the US is comparable to importing from Japan. And A790 is also correct on Gov't cracking down on Japanese imports. They're actuallly trying to change the 15 year rule to a 20 year rule by january next year and it might not happen then but it is definitely going to happen in the near future and then these cars will be even more rare. Spoolin, you think it's easy to go through MTO. Let alone find an MTO office that knows what the hell to do with the documents and how to put the car into the system. Clearly spoolin, you have no idea. Like I said if I had simply bought the car from an import dealer that's a different story. Man trust me you have no idea. I even at one point called a high ranking person in the MTO main provincial office who as well basically told me to shove it. Guess she was on her lunch break or doesn't like Japanese or somethin' cuz once I said Japan, she lost it..lol

Either way, spoolin, it's not an easy process by any means when you have to get shipping, track shipping, make sure shipping is on time, get a trucking company, make sure the trucking company is on time to take it to inspection, make sure they're on time to pick it up, make sure they pick it up at the rail year when it goes back there from inspection, have people ready to unload the cars and all the other things involved. Trust me if you're not on top of all the movement of the container you'll be paying out your *** in storage fees. Cheap JDM cars have problems that you will soon have to deal with afetr buying and ususally are not yet up to standard and it will hurt you if you get pulled over. Go take a look at how much dealers sell the cars for on average. 8-12 for the majority of cars. Nothing lower than that and you have to get it up to code yourself and get e-test, safety etc.

all i can say is good luck with the sale dude... hopefully this thread hasn't affected your chances of selling the car for a decent price, it looks to be in good shape. u lucked out with the eg6 too... importing from japan is so risky lol.

Im sorry I was misunderstood. I didnt mean for it to sound like i was comparing it to the states for importing.. OO i know its a load more work and headaches... the states is easy. send the title 72hrs before the date of crossing and thats it.. then get some drls in and ur set... easy..

I think that car owners think that there cars are worth alot more then other ppl because of all the time that they have invested, an while you might see a 1990 civ all rusted, the owner sees it as his baby.... like we all do
