well strokerace u gotta take into consideration most of them have 15s hondas that think they are fast. n think they can beat anything without even knowing what the other car has. They beat one domestic car n they became fast. mind u that domestic was stock. They dont have anywhere near enough for the domestics but let them think that. so thats y they make up excuses y they lost.

ahh make and model dont matter, anything is fast with enough time and money. come on if anyone had a challenge to make a car fast for under 5k including purchase of vehicle... honda is right on top. i was going to buy one but they are too expensive with high clicks and rust.... plus i wanted a 4-door car... im sure if a K20 powered civic with ITBs or something insane showed up it be a different story but i know what you mean. you got kids rolling up in cars that have no motor work, let alone kids that have no idea whats going on with their engines and blah blah blah. its always going to be like that. hondas are quick, cheap and make great daily drivers as they dont break often (biggest downtime i had on my car was 1 week for cam upgrade, IN MY DRIVEWAY ) and most of the time cops will sit right there and what not. i dont think its much of a surprise that alot of people think there cars are fast, but look at it this way... how many faster cars are ever around ?? when a 5.0L comes in with a whine no one will even move for a race. you need to size up competition, work around your cars strengths... but we are all young kids enjoying a passion, some take it more seriously and others dont. some kids got more coin to spend and some others dont. youll never get away from that.

Well, hondas aren't the only ones that you can make go fast. You need to know about cars in order to make it fast for cheap. You also have to watch what shop you go to to get work done on your car. Some will throw anything on your car if you ask them to, even if it doesn't make your car fast. They are just in it for the money. I know of a Supra that went to a shop, has about 200 g's tied up in it and it only ran 13's. They sank money into all the wrong places with the car. Then I know of a guy that bought a civic, did all the work himself and his own fabbing and the car did 13's. He had under 5 grand into the car. Even a Stock 5.0 can get into the 13's for cheap too. I wish I could say for 5 grand too, but most cost you that to buy one, then about another 2 grand or so for a NOS kit and plate fot it.Hell, even if you blew up a 5.0, you can get a replacement motor for under a grand for it.The worst part is, you can't get anything to new and do it up cheap, but most late 80's early 90's vehicles can be found and built cheap. Most under the 10 grand mark. Alittle more if you want a cage in it.

yea i have kept costs down on my car by doing all the work myself. i have access to a lift at work but ive done more driveway fixes on my car and some friends cars as well. i torn into my motor to do the cams, never once have i opened up a motor and fiddled around with anything before, i simply had a book and did my best. the VR has a timing chain so the timing needs to be spot on before you put it all back together.... im not a fan of taking my car to shops becuase i just dont like people i dont know touching something. it only takes one missing bolt to mess up the entire motor and id rather trust myself. dont get me wrong, props to the kids that have the money to take their cars to shops, i just like knowing my car inside and out and know exactly what a problem is when it arrises.

yea but id rather waste time then waste money. money saved can go into more things for the car so at the end of the day id rather get my hands dirty. if anything its quicker to do yourself cuz you dont have to wait on anything. any good shop will usually be busy and i dont have the kind of schedule that allows me to take my car somewhere and leave it for the day.
