Also Drum brakes are lighter and in some light racing applications work well. Ie Toyota Celica GT only the GTS had 4 wheel disk. The car dominanated it's class in the Scca for a few years with DRUM brakes on the rear.

The only real flaw with drum brakes is thermal efficiencey as they heat up and do not cool down as fast Disk brakes. But for the rear in certain applications they are better as the rears only do 30% of the work

I agree with you. I don't know about them being lighter then disk brakes though. I guess that would depend on which type of drum brake and which type of disk brake you are comparing, and what the components were made out of (aluminum, cast iron, etc). I personally hate drums because of the springs, uneven pad wear, and the parking brake actuators that always seem to seize.

You forgot to mention that drum brakes have more swept area then a similar sized disk brake. :lala:
