Windows Vista

I've been putting it off for a long time but i finally put Vista on a spare hard drive of mine. Its quite a bit different from xp! I think it will take a while to get used to.

so far tho ive gotta say that i really like it. it really reduces the number of clicks that you have to do to get something done. then windows FINALY reallized that their software gets spyware and viruses....so they have built in protection. just clicking around ive noticed a lot of things that are already built in to this system that you would be downloading anyways such as is a data backup tool and desktop system monitoring.

running vista really reminds me of a mac. very easy to use and looks really cool while doing so! the graphic effects that everything does are pretty neat.
im not really sure if having cool little effects at every click of the mouse is the best thing to do (seems really intesive for an OS) and makes your video card work more.

anyone else running vista? anyone gonna get it?

Yeah thats what they did with XP, put graphics all over everything, and it slowed down your system up to 10%... I can only wonder how bad it is on vista. I would imagine they put a way in to turn it all off.

As per built in data backup tools and system monitering... they had those in XP. They probably just made them less hidden in vista.

Ill have to try it, but I wont be switching anytime soon unless Im completely sold... But Im not ready to try it yet. Theres gonnna be so many glitches and holes in it, Ill wait til a SP comes out for it.

the spyware stuff is in xp also (an optional download that is spyware) I may try it, but probably not for a little while since I am having memory issues now (had a bad stick)

paarman97maro 11-13-2006 11:39 AM

yeah... 512 is the lowest you can have for a version.

archemedes 11-13-2006 11:40 AM

thta's what I am using now, and it sucks

paarman97maro 11-13-2006 11:45 AM

TorqueDog 11-13-2006 12:28 PM

I'm not even going to bother putting Vista on my laptop until I get my new one.

archemedes 11-13-2006 12:44 PM

something I just saw today, they are still deciding features to include in the release

TorqueDog 11-13-2006 01:07 PM

That's funny, because the RTM is plastered all over BitTorrent.

paarman97maro 11-13-2006 01:26 PM

They already have a bunch of features for each of the 4 releases... They have to be miniscule if they are.

TorqueDog 11-13-2006 01:42 PM

Ultimate. w00t.

FamousZ 11-13-2006 01:42 PM

Im gonna get it when it comes out.. For the fun of it..;)

mxracerbrian 11-13-2006 02:04 PM

ive already got a couple certificates for it. one for ultimate and one for basic :)

ill get it as soon as it comes out. may not run on my system hdd but ill have it on one for sure

paarman97maro 11-13-2006 03:56 PM

I was thinking about reformatting soon... I was just thinking, maybe Ill partition it to have xp on one and vista on another. But Im not gonna pay for vista... maybe ill just get the trial off the student network.

Mike Jones 11-13-2006 04:01 PM

I'll keep XP on my desktop. When I do buy a laptop I might just then buy it with Vista already on it.
