Anyone that thinks "that aint no dodge charger..all them had 01 on the doors!" should lay off the moonshine. In up high at the big 3 y'all gotz to make guesses. Biggest guess right now is that retro is gonna flop like the XFL in a few more years...and they build the same bodied car for sometimes upto 7-10 years. Thats mainly General Motors theory but Mopar now under daimlers wing cant make anymore -ups. They had 2 design studios build what they thought the charger should be. The car above was in one..and won. The car in number 2 was just that 99 concept car (cab forward design) draped over the new LX chassis lay-out and to quote "looked waaay to retro".
If building something like the mustang, yes, do what you want. 30% of the cars sold turn up as drag cars/show cars whatever. Thats why ford did that. Dodge on the other hand had to build a replacement for the intrepid box...
I think against the rules they had to follow they've built a pretty bad-*** car.

There was a Charger at work last week. It looked pretty good considering it was the shitty V6 model with 17" plastic wheel covers. They seem to be built well, the only flaw I could see was the rear bumper cover didn't have an even gap where it meets up with the rear 1/4 panel. It was more then likely a pre-production model because they only went into production a few weeks ago and this one had some miles on it. I can't wait to see the SRT8 model...

yea solid charger production only started in the last few weeks. the rear bumper @ quarter panel thing is a known early issue, but its fixed for all the 06's going properly out of the factory
the chargers havent hit the dealers yet, and if i am not mistaken, i think they are just stockpiling the orders prior to delivery there now.
at any given time you can see everything we build in the build lot. go to the factory in brampton, climb over one of the hills across from torbram, bring binoculars, and check out all the stuff we keep out there prior to delivery, and hope security doesnt say anything
theres no real secrets, but this platform is doing very well. expect DC to bring a lot of new cars over to this. people can say what may, but this chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and newest electronics intregrated into it is extremely good. i am sure DC will take advantage of it.
the 5.7 magnum with AWD is a badass ride too. would be interesting if they would bring the 6.1 srt8 to the magnum with the awd drivetrain.

I was going to say no and list all the reasons that I could to back it up but you have a really good point there. Iam not judging anything done by "the old" Chrysler but I have to admit the new Durango and Dakotas dont even hold a candle to the 1g versions. Time lapse in effect...back when they came out. So I see what you mean.
