Brain downloads 'possible by 2050
London, England -- By the middle of the 21st century it will be possible to download your brain to a supercomputer, according to a leading thinker on the future.
Ian Pearson, head of British Telecom's futurology unit, told the UK's Observer newspaper that the rapid advances in computing power would make cyber-immortality a reality within 50 years.
Pearson said the launch last week of Sony's PlayStation 3, a machine 35 times more powerful than the model it replaced, was a sign of things to come.

i dunno if this was in the article or noT (didnt read it) but the new ps3 is spose to be 1/100 the intelligence of the human brain. 15yrs ago u played games in 2d, and look how far we have come with that, i cant see why this is so unbelievable

It's a retarded prediction because it's based on absolutely no fact, except what everybody can plainly see - that technology is advancing incredibly fast.

but of course u know everything about that right? i mean graphics in a few years will be completely lifelike and will be goin way faster then we will ever imagine it to go... so i guess it just stops there? wat about the next 40 yearspretty much EVERYTHING that is "high tech" now was once thought to be impossible....TV, space travel, video games, etc. u think this point in time is any different?
