en autosave....I THOUGHT I turned it off, so I took this 350z race car I won, sold a bunch of my other cars for money, and started buying all these mods for the 350, tried it out on a few courses and that was that (I had no intention of saving the game like this) Then I go to switch cars and......AUTOSAVE. God damnit, now some of my cars are gone.

How do you turn autosave completely off? In the options all I see is "Always"
and "Restricted"...

An easy way to turn autosave off is to remove the memory card after loading. Each time you wanna try something else just reload the saved game and do it all again.

no the game crashes if you remove the memory card.
restricted means it autosaves when you switch cars. you cant turn it off completely.

the reason is that with a 1000 car garage the ps2 doesnt have enough internal memory to keep all the info... therefore it saves your garage to the memory card to free up space to render such things as the nurburgring

The only thing that could have made the game better is a bit more representation of american and european cars.

Look at this list:

http://www.gamedaily.com/gran_turism...1&section=news

Look at Toyota, Nissan, Honda or Mazda in comparison to the other companies, they put virtually every notable car from japan, from the slowest grocery getter to the fastest supercar.

I mean, i know its a japanese game, but still..it's amazing either way though..

One way to get around the autosave feature is to buy another memory card. When you have a lot of money on one card, copy it to the other one. After that you can fool around on the original one, then just recopy when you want to start over. Its just making a backup! Although this takes alot of time, it does work. BUT WHAT A ING HASSLE!....If anyone has a better way PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

My 2 cents...

Gotta agree here. I saw "Saleen" in the American section and was surprised to find there was no Saleen Mustangs or the N20 Focus....odd considering there are like 5 different variations of the S2000 AND with Nitrous being in the game it'd only make sense to have at least one car come equipped with Nitrous. Shelby has a '65 Mustang but not the one they're known for, the '67 F/B GT500E, another disgrace.

The BMW list is a in disgrace. No old M3's or other notable BMW's. The only McLaren is the F1 race car. Why not a stock one? They ed up with the Eclipse, there was never a GT in 95. WAY WAY too many Skylines. M-Spec, V-Spec, Nur....good lord they're all the same car. They put the *crashed* Option Z Stream in the game, but they don't put the new Mine's 350Z which is a better car.

But the thing I have to say that pisses me off the most is that you can buy like 15 types of Skylines "NEW" despite being out of production, yet I had to wait 6 months (game time) to finally be able to buy a MKIV Supra from a Used Car Showroom. What the hell is that bullshit?

^Ya man!

That's what im saying, the only M3s in the game are E46s, and there's a bunch of awesome cars that they should have added..

Disappointments with GT4

GT4 has left me very disappointed! Although, without any question the graphics are phenomenal, sound effects are improved, and yes there are a zillion cars. But what really gets to me is this damn auto save feature. I can't even buy a car to test! That really sucks! Also no online play, what the is that? Its not like this is new technology. (they had it in GT3!) And is there any way to adjust the difficulty settings other then in Arcade mode? The AI in this game is so stupid but so fast. They still travel the best racing line, and don't try to avoid you when your close. I found the above to be very frustrating with GT4. This game had so much hype going into it, but now I just don't want to accept the game for what it is.

I part of the problem is that they've hit the limit of what the PS2 console can do.

There are 14 different variations of the S2000 in GT4...

There IS a way to play online (its in a magazine this month, I forget which one it is). Its done utilizing the LAN mode... I dont know the details on it.

The game is very Japanese biased. The American cars handle like complete .

Another thing that is pissing me off is how the game displays 3 different horsepower values for the cars....When Entering you garage beside the car's name there will be an XXX value for the HP. But when you actually select the car and look at its spec that XXX value will be 10-20 hp different. And then after a race before the replay comes up there is a screen that says the car make/model and its horsepower and its is also a different number. Yes I realize there is HP and BHP but I don't think that is what it is because if it was there would be much larger differences between the numbers...

There is a few other things that I am not happy about with GT4 but I cant seem to think of them at the moment...

There are some really weird things about the game.. already mentioned, the fact that there are a billion variations of Skylines. Christ, the car's not THAT good. I didn't notice as many in GT4 as in GT3, but maybe there are more unlockable cars I have yet to see. What I also find really stupid is having many different car manufacturers and only listing one car per manufacturer, or having useless cars that nobody cares about. They could've definately added some better variety to the car selection.

And they have SOME muscle cars, but a lot were left out.. like the Charger is the only real muscle car of the era? For 's sake. Damn japs. Where's the GTO? 429 Mustang Cobra? Olds 442? I'm glad they had the Cougar XR7 in there though, just gotta get to the point of unlocking it now.

It would've been cool to see a lot more American cars.. if they have a whole Saleen manufacturer category, why not the S281E? 05 Saleen? N20 Focus as someone mentioned.. or even an fox-body Saleen mustang would've been damn awesome to see.

I also noticed the horsepower rating differences.. I haven't the slightest idea what they mean. But re american cars in GT4, I found the 05 Mustang to be a great car. I built one up before I became bored and scratched that game, but it goes pretty good and even faster with some mods, and it handles and brakes really well without the need for upgrades.

Really cool game though, I wish I had an HDTV and a dolby digital surround system to get the full effect
